Im having in issue with Music on Hold across a 8.1 SCN because I wish to have different "System Sources" for a specific site.
Seems when you set "system source" to WAV that it uses holdmusic.wav as default which is pushed out to all v2's via TFTP.

If I have a site that needs different music I can set alternate sources for their inbound calls and hunt groups, but I cant seem to set the music for outbound calls and intercom calls across the SCN? This seems to always play the "system source"... which is different for this site :(

I thought about just using embedded file management to change\upload this file, but im afraid that it will just pull a new copy via TFTP again from the manager

At last, I now have deleted the holdmusic.wav on all sites and only specified Alternate sources. Now all the outbound calls just have tones and the inbounds have correct companies music, but still dont understand how to set the default system source to WAV 1,2 or 3 or Different WAV's?

Is the only way to install manager and TFTP server on a compltely different machine and point the V2 there and never manage theoir MOH across the SCN\WAN?

What am i missing?

Thanks in Advance

I assume you use one TFTP server for all sites?

A simple mind delivers great solutions

Indeed, even in an SCN each system will load it's own individual holdmusic.wav file unless you give each system the same one by using a single file server as mentioned above, also you use shortcodes to set MOH source for outgoing calls :)

Thanks Guys!

@intrigrant - Yes, I have been using one machine to manage the sites and have all V2's point at it for TFTP. Guessing that I'm going to change this for this site if I cant find a solution

@amriddle01 - Short Codes for MOH? I assume your not referring to *34? Can you explain, also is there a was to set hold music for intercom, or is that hard coded to System source?

Really wish the Dropdown of "External\Tone\Wave File" Had Wave 1,2,3,4 or you could specify the filename for the primary WAV.

Thanks Again - Appreciate the information!

Kind Regards,

Sorry to Bump

@amriddle01 - Short Codes for MOH, Can you explain? Is this for external calls or intercom?

Thanks,
Mike

You can dictate MOH source for outgoing calls using shortcode entries, from the Help files:

Manager said:
h - Hold Music Source (IP Office 6.1+) When used as part of the short code telephone number field, this character allows the source for music on hold to be selected. Enter h(X) where X is 1 to 4 indicating the required hold music source if available. This overrides any previous hold music selection that may have been applied to the call. When used with ParkCall shortcodes, the h(X) should be entered before the park slot number part of the telephone number.

This is only for external calls as extn calls will not match shortcodes :)

You could always force it to work for internal transferred calls by passing calls through a shortcode when transferring, for example:

Shortcode: #XXX
Feature: Dial extn
Tel num: Nh(2) this will play 2nd source for that call from this point
Line Gp: whatever (doesn't matter)

Obviously you may need more specific shortcodes if you have people in different departments but with similiar extn numbers :)
