Could someone please advise me what cable do I need to run out the back of a Dell Inspiron 5000 Laptop - the TV out being a seven pin connection to the TV being a 4 pin connection. I cannot find the 7 pin cable at all. It would appear the 4 pin normal S-Video plug will plug into the same socket, but of course there will still be 3 pins short. Will it still work???
Please help as I have had the salesman runaround for days now.

I have a Dell Latitude c610 notebook with an s-video output, and battled with the 'b/w only' problem so many people seem to be having.

I have a fairly old Toshiba PAL/SECAM tv, with both s-video and scart input. Both a direct s-video cable, and an s-video-scart converter gave b/w only on the tv.

I fixed it by switching the s-video output from NTSC (default) to PAL. Based on what I read on the web and in this thread, this is the last thing I expected, and I don't know how I got anything out of a PAL tv from an NTSC signal, but it works and that's all that matters to me. Hopefully it will help someone else too.

I don't have a laptop and i'm not trying to connect one to my TV but I have in the past and found that the laptop did not support that kind of video output even though it came equipt to do so. it was very frustrating!! my friend had to buy another video card.
