Hi guys hopefully someone can help. I have 60 9608 phones. Every few minutes I get a message "resetting on urq" and the phones resets then it comes up and works fine for a few minutes and then it happens again. Any ideas. I have a VLAN for DATA network and Voice network. The system is running 9.0.100.845.

This is a newish installation. And started about 2 weeks after cut over.

What does monitor show with h.323 turned on?
I guess they cannot be kept alive and then reboot.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yea it looks like they cannot be kept alive. But the weird thing is I can ping the phone and I get replies until the actual phone reboot. There is no slow down or issue until reboot. Same to the PBX. Is there a way to stop phones from rebooting?

It looks like you have a device in the network with the same IP Address as the IP Office which interfere with the Gatekeeper registration process.
I woulld try to change the IP Office IP Address and see what happens.
If the problem persists then disconnect IP Office from the network and try with a single switch and connect only IP Phones.
One more thing I can think of : is the gatekeeper enabled in IP Office?

No there is definitely no other device using that IP address. Also the phones reset randomly so it not all at same time or even all in an hour period. There might only 5 or 6 randomly every 2 to 5 minutes. Also yes the gatekeeper is on.

What type?
How many phones connected?
I have seen issues with the 728 range with too many devices pulling POE.
These Netgears are not strong enough to provide POE when there are too much IPDect and IP phones connected to them.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

They are 728's but I only have at most 12 phones on any one switch. I have checked watt's consumed and it only 60 watts at most of the 192 the switches can provide. there are 8 24 port switches for 56 phones.

What happens is you pull the plug of the switch?
I have seen problems when there where 11 IPdect basestations connected and then pulled the power and reconnected it.
I really think it is the switch.

The resetting urq messages are totally random. I have had a reset even on a switch that only has 3 devices on it at the moment.

Hi CptIpo, I had a similar problem with 1616/1608i's. After much messing around, I upgraded the firmware on each handset to the latest version at the time (R8.1 SP5) and that fixed the problem.

seems to suggest that it is a 1600 set

I have 9608's and 1616 phones. The trace I supplied is with a 1616 phone. I have made sure all phones are the latest firmware available.

OK, that means it is not just the 9608's that are going nuts but also the 1600's and unlikely to be a firmware issue on the phone side.
Seeing that the IPO has plenty of systems out there that work it is also unlikely that it is a firmware problem of the IPO.

Think hardware, network switch, patch cables....
are there any phones on any network switch that do not reboot? Are the network switches stacked or connected via patch cables?
if all that works in the hardwares favour then I would go there after hours and default the IPO and see if it still happens then.
I don't envy you as these intermittent things take a lot of time and effort to find.

I would definitely try a different brand switch first.
