We have a nortel meridian without voicemail. As I understand it, the number of rollover rings is set system wide - we have it at 4. We get around the lack of voicemail by having home type answering machines. So when a person calls digital phone A it rings 4 times, rolls to the answering machine, rings 4 more, and then it picks up. The complaint is that it takes too long for the machine to answer. I told them they could just forward the phones in the office to the answering machine, but they are not happy with that because they say they would have to go around to all the phones and put forward on. Now they are talking about a service of some kind to pick up when they are not there, but I think this defeats the purpose since you would have to "put the service on" and take it off just like forward. Isn't there a "night service" option on the nortel that would put all the calls into the machine automaticly at night? I know this is a mess and a long question but does anybody have any ideas here?
