MiXML general failure online upgrade

Hi crew,

I'm tryng to perform an online upgrade a controller from rel. 9.0UR3 to MCD 4.0 but when the installation of the software starts a message it's shown. The message says "General MiXML failure" and stops the upgrade.

It's first time I try to perform an online upgrade. Does anyone knows why it happens?

What OS are you using to install it?
Is it Win 7? if so have you the FTP permissions etc.?

I'm using Cerberus ftp server in WinXP and the version of the Software Installer Tool is 10.0.4.

Has it worked with previous 3300 upgrades?

I'm using Cerberus for many years and it works fine. I allways upgrade or install the controller manually (rebooting, pressing <space> <space> <space>, changing boot options, etc...) and it never fails. It's first time I use the Software Intaller Tool to do it online.

OK so it may be a JAVA issue with the SI tool and not with the FTP server.
Also is the username and password you are using got 'root' and 'application' permissions?

The help file does state the following

The FTP Server must be on the same LAN as the 3300 controller.

You must use Microsoft IIS FTP Service. Other FTP services are not supported.

Solved!!!

The problem was the ftp server. I never had any problem with this ftp server software. Now I used the 3Com Daemon an all-in-one ftp, tftp and syslog server and a tftp client and it works!!!
