Hi,

We would like to get Music on hold to play for external callers in a VM hunt group.

We have enabled the MOH option in the COS for the hunt group but it will not play.

Any ideas?

Thanks

More information required.

Voicemail is not typically used to put people on hold. It wither takes messages or transfers.

This sounds like another coat hanger question:
Husband ask wife for coathanger
Wife says, why do you need a coat hanger?
Husband replies, because I locked the keys in the car
Wife says, wouldn't you prefer if I gave you the spare set of keys?

Moral: Tell us what problem you are having. Do not tell us the problem you are having with the solution you have chosen for your problem.

wither = either for bad typists

The issue we are having is the following:

External calls are routed to a VM Hunt group, our IVR message then answers "Press 1" etc.

This then routs to a ring group.

The issue is when the ring group is ringing the external party hears silence.

So we are either trying to get some type of ringing or to play MOH at this time.

There ya go.

The issue is with MOH during transfer. Nothing to do with voicemail really.

Check to see if you have the COS option enabled for MOH during transfer. With this option enabled, the system will not present ringback. If you want the system to play Music in this instance then you must provide a music source.

Or

Turn off the COS option and the system should present ringback.

I have checked the COS for the trunks, phones and VM, all are set to Music on Hold Transfer = No.

Still no ringing :-(

Any other ideas?

What happens if a regular phone transfers a call to the ring group. Ringback or Music?

If ringback, are you doing supervised transfers in the voicemail? (VM Options)

Internal transfers to the ring group play music.

The VM option to "Enable Supervised Transfer" was set to True but changing it to False had no impact.

running out of ideas

Configure a phone for the same COS and COR as a voicemail port

Add Phone to voicemail group (at a time when you really don't expect any calls)

Test a call answered at the phone and transfered to the ring group.

One other question - Is the voicemail on the same system?

Thanks,

Will give it a try, yes the VM is on the same system.

I was just thinking it may have something to do with the incoming trunks and signalling not being 100%, but I doubt it.

I'm going to test anyway.

Hi,

I confirmed this issue as being related to the way that our SIP trunking provider is handling the hold requests from the 3300.

It seems that only certain trunk providers are able to deal with the Mitel requests successfully.

Thanks

I was going to ask if you're trunks are SIP. depending on your version of MCD there should be an option in the SIP Peer SDP options name "Avoid Signalling/Sendinging Hold to Peer".

Turn this on if it's off. This will not inform the provider of the hold, so they never kick into MOH mode - btw if they are doing hold like this they should have at least have some sort of MOH

Hi,

This issues was completely related to our SIP trunking provider. We changed to bandwidth.com and all of the issues disappeared.

The problem is that the majority of SIP providers do not respond correctly to the invites that the 3300 sends out when a call is placed on hold.

I would STRONGLY suggest making sure that you select a provider on Mitel's list of approved and tested providers.

Search for document number “08-5159-00014” in the MOL knowledge base.
