This is our 2nd MICS at this location; it has XC7.1 SW, PRI, DTI, 6 port combo, 6 port expansion with 14 ASM's. This unit will freeze up sometimes once a week. Time and date will be on the phones but no intercom dial tone and none of the buttons will work. Here are the EVT and ALM codes we are getting. The provider says they see no errors on their end on the circuit. ANY help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. We are at a loss.

With that close proximity, what I was thinking of wouldn't likely be the source of the problem. I still don't see how the state of the T1 link can cause such issues, but who knows. I can sit here and theorize, but you're the one on the front line dodging bullets to find a solution - hope one materializes.

Thanks libellis, I went back through all the programming again this morning. All the programming is programed to match Spectrums circuit. I did find that we didn't program two extensions for two T24's that are on the system, could this be causing the system to shut down? I don't know but I will fix that next trip.

I wouldn't think that could cause such a problem. If it could, it would likely not be a rarity and would be well known. Speaking of rarities, especially since the environment would seem to be benign - a nursing home - is there any possibility that the system, or a cable/station could be exposed to an occasional high level of RF energy? I don't like to point a finger at RF interference because that's seldom a possible cause, but figured I'd ask even if it seems a stretch.

libllis, I'm not aware of any RF energy interference in the building they use limited medical equipment. I read a post over the weekend that mentioned change DN or set relocation sometimes causing issues. I did have to change 16 DN's due to DID and this being an existing PRI. Thanks for the input...

phoneguy427, Thanks for the response, I always turn CSU on the manual says you need to have an external CSU if you turn the internal off. The first DIT clocksrc is primary and if using two it would be secondary, is this what you are referring too?

Well....I guess that means no security personnel wandering around with high powered walkie talkies either. Hope one of those programming angles turns out to be the culprit.

libellis they don't have security personnel all doors require key cards. Just advised this morning I have another Nursing Home doing the same thing. System is freezing up have time and date, no intercom dial tone, and buttons don't work. They had to reboot the system three times before it stayed up. MICS same setup as the other one, also on Spectrum PRI. I'm unable to login at this time the RAD keeps kicking me out. This is getting crazy can't put my finger on it system or circuit???

I did see a rather old forum post about a DTI card causing the system to freeze. However, it didn't have a PRI, and the problem seemed to be a lack of DTMF receivers, but those aren't relevant for PRI.

The attachment, extracted from the 7.1 Installer Guide, is relevant to a large system with two DTI cards, but thought you might be interested anyway.

On the other system that went down on the 4th, I was able to login this morning and getting event code 247.
EVT 247-01FD293 1/6 6:38
EVT 247-01FE0294 1/6 6:38
and more up to 50 (all log will hold)
I can't clear log (cancld-new items)
then goes back to 50 items
Seems like it's a running error and won't let me clear the log.

EVT 247 An invalid channel related event was received. Get event traceback

Could this be the DTI card or getting bad signal for PRI?

Calling Spectrum now....

Update: Spectrum did a firmware update and I was able to clear the log no more EVT 247. I wish the other system was this EASY...

Well the system has been up since Dec. 31st it went down today at 8:30am. I'm now getting event code 904-01D00002 here's what I found on another post about event code 904.

904: qERR_In_tLD P3 'B' Trace TestLog
904: | CAUSE:
904: | A logevent has been caused in the ISDN loop driver or broadcast
904: | call handler by the receipt of unexpected input.
904: | 1st parameter is an error sub-code (see source code).
904: | Remaining bytes are optional parameters passed to the error call.
904: | See the source code at the location of the error. call.
904: | ENVIRONMENT: 904: | ISDN loop driver or broadcast call control receiving input.
904: | HUMAN ACTION:
904: | Determine input that caused event and state of the ISDN
904: | driver when the call occured. Take steps to fix
904: | incorrect event or have driver accept it.

Can someone help me out with this not sure I understand what this means?

Evening All.

Are you using a UPS back up with fresh batteries?

DaveThePhoneDoctorLV, Thanks for the response.

The system is on a UPS but no we haven't changed the batteries. As posted earlier we have moved the system to a regular AC outlet and then to a generator backup outlet but issue still persist.

If you’re at the point where you’ll even try simple magic to fix a PRI link problem with 904 events, see this rather old post if your protocol is NI-2. Your problem is more extensive, but here it is anyway. (The poster does explain more fully if you look through the thread.)

One question. When the system fails and phones completely freeze up (can’t even make an internal call), is the freezing problem seen only with those station cartridges connected to the combo 6-port, or is it seen with station cartridges connected to the 6-port expansion cartridge as well?

libellis, Thanks

All stations on the 6 port comb and 6 port expansion are analog. When the system goes down they are looking at the digital extensions in the offices. I can have them check one of the analog stations next time it goes down. I'll change the destination code to 9any as soon as I get the site contact to test calls with me.

As a test, can you, or have the client press the magic button on the DTI card instead of rebooting the system, to see if that helps recover all.

Regarding the solution in that old post. In theory it would be better to test by dialing a "9" and waiting a reasonable number of seconds to see if anything happens instead of first changing the destination code to "9any" and waiting to see if a failure ever occurs again. Unfortunately, that entails a risk of the system going down if it's in fact the problem (but you'd know for sure).

System #2 is going down more frequently how, about 2 or 3 times a day. Same as system #1 has time and date no intercom dial tone and buttons don't work. I dialed the 9 only after about 10 seconds it times out goes back to time and date. I installed a new UPS (1500VA/900W) and only the phone system is connected. I tried to login this morning and it's down again. Spectrum is going to replace their cable modem, but they did that at system #1 location didn't change anything. I'll try curlycord.com suggestion of pressing the button on the DTI card. I do appreciate all the input Thanks....
