Hello,

I have remote access to an Option 81C, Release 25.40.

They have an MCR extension that appears on five phones. Two or three appearances on four phones and the Prime DN on the fifth phone. The fifth phone is programmed but there is no phone plugged in -- so the port is disabled. If no one answers the on any of the MCR appearances the call goes to Voicemail.

This is switch I usually don't handle, so I have to take their word for it, but they say this is the way it's been working for a long time.

The problem is the calls now go directly to voicemail -- it doesn't ring anywhere first. I've checked all the obvious stuff (at least I hope I have) and I don't see anything obvious like a call forward to voicemail.

I haven't worked with MCRs that often -- is there is anything that I should be looking for?

Thanks for any suggestions.
Dale

We have a similar scenario, but running on a CS1K. I have 9 phones programmed with MCR on Key 01 for our helpdesk line. The TN that holds the primary DN is not disabled, it's set up as type 500 (used to have a cordless phone plugged in there - took out the phone, left the TN active).

What type of TN is the prime DN of the fifth phone?

I tried to take it one day at a time, but a whole bunch of them attacked me at once!

What type of TN is the prime DN of the fifth phone?"

It's a 2616.

I'd be looking at the MARP for the MCR DN. I suspect it has moved to the disabled TN - that won't help.

Also, remember MCR keys can only have one call at a time ringing on them. When they are ringing _all_ appearances are busy.

So if two calls are coming in at exactly the same time, one call will get through and the other will either get a busy or go to VM? Once the call is answered on one of the sets, that clears it for more calls to come through, correct? That's how it seems to work here...

Dale - I've not seen a TN type 2616 before, but I'm still new to this. The TN types on my system are 500 and 2000. Example:

TN 004 0 10 03 VIRTUAL
TYPE 500

I tried to take it one day at a time, but a whole bunch of them attacked me at once!

Got it. Thanks!

I tried to take it one day at a time, but a whole bunch of them attacked me at once!

For some reason the calls aren't making hitting the phones. I'm beginning to think the PBX is confused.

I did some trac ing while I was making calls to extension 6540.

I've enabled it, 44 0 15 0, but the switch doesn't see a phone on the other end when I do an IDU test. Supposedly there hasn't been one for some time. (It's a site I don't normally handle.)

I deleted the MCR off of key 0 on TN 44 0 15 0 and it didn't make any difference. I built the MCR on a 500 port and that didn't make any difference either.

I'm beginning to think the switch thinks that x6540 is forwarded to voicemail.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I must be missing something.

daleblizz - Does this still happen when 6540 is called from an internal extension? One possibility is that IDC is converting 6540 to go somewhere else. Or maybe it's a carrier problem.

6540 is still on 044 0 15 00 - which is the MARP, and that TN is not connected to a phone?...and is disabled?

MCR DNs can never be on missing phones - only trouble

Enable 044 0 15 00, set CLS FLXA - test and report back - that's my first test

I'm not sure I would care about DCH unless this problem only occurs when coming from the outside. Are you saying internal calls work, but external inbound do not? See StanleySteamer's post asking this too.

I'll have someone try it internally tomorrow (later today).

I added FLXA to the phone that's not plugged in. It didn't make a difference. I removed the MCR key on the phone that's not plugged in. That didn't make a difference.

I've been digging through the distant steering code information (the forward number is a distant steering code), but that should only kick in after it rings 4 times, as far as I can tell.

I turned on DCH messaging to see what was happening. It looks like it's sending the call out to 5165555, and I can't find that anywhere. It's almost like there's a call forward that I can't see.

I'll take a look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow (later today).

Thanks for all the help.

CLS FLXA will stop a phone from disabling overnight during the midnights. In other words, it allows an unplugged phone to remain enabled. Of course, you hae to enable it.

Remember, when you remove the DN from that TN, the MARP moves - so where the MARP is, nobody knows right now.

The TN that is MARP for a DN is the TN that is sought to obtain HUNT and FDN.

dch msgs look clean.. look at the route to see if it is using idc.. on the switch your dialing from, check that rlb for a dgt as well.

confused don't happen.. a number is either a dn or a dsc. i can't beleive an unplugged station is a solution for any problem.. if you need the marp on a non working station, i would use an analog port.

the cust stated that it's been working and just stopped. might prt tnb with a date and look at changes made in the past week or so. i've found problems that way.. a cdb change can cause problems rdr data, option entries.. a change on the rdb from int to ext can change the way a station fdn's as well as frl's on your rlb's..
