I tried to add a Key Expansion Module to a 2616 telephone. Added AOM 1 and plugged up the cable. I can define the buttons (of course), but the module itself isn't working.

The module works on another phone with an existing KEM. The phone and module work together on another TN with an existing KEM. Is there something in translations I'm missing? Do I need to set a permission somewhere or do something other than AOM 1?

Thanks so much!

IT MAY REQUIRE A POWER SUPPLY AND A DAUGHTER BOARD DEPENDING ON THE RELEASE OF THE 2616

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

no, that is the only prompt.. does that station and aom work on another jack. the older version sets had to have an external power supply.. plugged in at the jack

If the 2616 is a RLS 1, then you will need to power supply.

I figured it might require external power. Is there a way to "status" the phone and determine what release it is?

Just look on the tag on the underside of the phone.

You will see something like;
NNTM6083E459
NT9K16AC35
REL #02

ARIES TN 012 0 09 10
TN ID CODE: M2616
NT CODE: NTZK16BA
COLOR CODE: 03
RLS CODE: 21
SER NUM: C36C33

RLS 21 sounds like something other than RLS 1 -- so, external power?

Did the TN that you said it worked on have an external power supply? Also if it does require external power make sure that you use a 6 conductor line cord because the power comes in on pins 1 and 6.

The TN that worked did not have an external power supply. Both stations are connected using a six conductor cord.

This is the phone that works:
[tt]ARIES TN 012 0 06 11
TN ID CODE: M2616
NT CODE: NT9K16AC
COLOR CODE: 03
RLS CODE: 03
SER NUM: 9BA568[/tt]

This is the phone that doesn't work (on its own TN):
[tt]ARIES TN 012 0 09 10
TN ID CODE: M2616
NT CODE: NTZK16BA
COLOR CODE: 03
RLS CODE: 21
SER NUM: C36C33[/tt]

Could it be the port that it's connected to? Any other thoughts? I'm at a loss, really.

The RLS 21 needs the power supply. RLS 03 is newer style. Has the module ever worker on teh RLS 21 phone? If so, the powersupply could be located somewhere in your switchroom.

The vintage NT9K16 is one of the latest vintages for a 2616 that doesn't require a power supply.

The NTZK16BA are the original M2616 phones which are very common for anyone who installed sets prior to 1996. You will need power for this vintage.

The NTZK phones provide all the basic
functionality and benefits of the Meridian sets. These phones require a
power board and transformer when adding an NT2K22 add-on module, so if
you don't need the extra 22 buttons and a basic display meets your needs,
this is a great phone for you.

I have a 2616 programmed with a key expansion module. The programming is below. The user sees/hears the phone ring when the lines programmed on the module ring, and the module definitely has power, but the user cannot answer the lines when she presses the ringing button. Is there some sort of privacy setting preventing her from answering the lines on her expansion module? I've never heard of this if the DNs are programmed as SCRs, and the call is not already in progress.
