Hello
At the beginning I apologize for my basic English :/
My customer bought 8520T ISDN phones for his old Definity system (G3siV6, G3V6i.03.0.223.5, offer cat:A).
He connected it to TN556B BRI Line card. 8510T ISDN phones have been working without any problems in this system. 8520T is on the type phone selection list without using the alias for station.
Customer added additional power supply 1151B1. 8520T phones started, I can make an outgoing call (other station is ringing), but the phone doesn't make any sounds - there is no signal in the handset or in the hands-free mode.
I can't make incoming connection (to 8520T phone)- phone not ringing
The status of the port and station seems to be correct:

Before wrote post here, I tried:
- configuration using data module
- SPID changes (I set 0000000000 and 1386) using code Menu -> Mute -> 46
- clear all parameter stored in memory used code Menu -> Mute -> 26
but in addition to the fact that the lamp started to operate after pressing the button "speakerphone" (without the sound in the speaker) nothing changed :(

Can any of you tell me why the phone does not make any sounds? Or suggest additional actions to diagnose it?
Access to any detailed documentation for this model is very limited (compared, for example, to the 8510T).

Please, help me.
Tomasz

Yes, 8510T in the same place, it works correctly on the same cable.
Tomasz

maybe you have a bad phone, also try another port on the pbx

I have several pieces of these phones and each one does not work in the same way. The port is IMHO efficient, if the 8510T works here without any problems. I suspect a configuration problem here.

Hi bsh
Thank you for your answer. I don't conceal, that I was waiting for your opinion.
What you have written makes sense, but in this case I have only one phone connected to port 01B1312. In this system I don't see the possibility of entering the "Endpt ID" for an 8520T station, the same is true for the new systems (below is example from R016x.03.0.124.0)
8520T_anh4ku.jpg

Any additional ideas? I wonder if the impact on such unusual phone work may have a wrong terminating resistor setting or other settings that are available from the phone menu. Please see document "ISDN settings and test manual", which as one of the few for 8520T I was able to find on the internet.

two phones on one port require each phone to have different terminating resistor settings.
set to OFF and PHAN

Changing the Setting of the Terminating Resistor and the Power Option Jumpers
The ISDN 8510T Voice Terminal Circuitry
The circuitry of the 8510T voice terminal contains a set of two terminating resistor jumpers which
can be set for ON and OFF. The ON setting enables the terminating resistor, and OFF bypasses
the terminating resistor.
It also contains two power option jumpers which can be set for AUX (for auxiliary power), and
PHAN (for phantom power). Auxiliary draws power from an adjunct/bulk power unit, and phantom
draws power from the PBX.
The terminating resistor ON and OFF settings and the power option AUX and PHAN settings are
activated by placing the appropriate (two) jumpers over the correct set of pins.

OK, that you still provided me information about 8510T. This type working properly in my system. I have problem with 8520T only.
8520T don't have physically switch for settings terminating resistor and must use external power supply. All status are good: status station is in service, in-hook / off-hook is properly recognized, BRI port is in-service too, Layer 1 link is activated, layer 2 is estabilished.
I wonder if there is no signal in the handset/speaker, no ringing and no incoming calls are the result of incorrect configuration, whether, as suggested by joe2938, is the result physical damage of the phones.

Tomasz

Sorry, but this still doesn't give an answer to the question asked at the beginning :(

Please post output from status station and status bri-port

Compare the output to 8510T same station same port that is working.

If the 8510T works the 8520T will work on the same port if you program the phone and spid to match the pbx station/port programming

I have a working telephone number 8510T with the number 1386. This is just one phone connected on this port. I unplug it, in the same place I connect the phone type 8520T with the number 1386. Phone 8520T has the same status (station, bri port) as 8510T, but does not ring, no signal in the handset and in speakerphone mode and does not work on incoming connection . An outgoing call can be made (another phone rings but you can not hear calls in the handset)

appears to be a defective phone.
try different receiver and receiver cord, mounting cord, and different 8520T voice terminal?

I don't diminish your knowledge and experience, but was unlikely for me, that the two new phones removed from the box could be damaged. I was convinced that this is a configuration problem.

It's doubtful that you bought 2 new 8520T BRI phones that were manufactured 15 to 20 years ago.
Most likely previously in service, used, refurbished.
