Hi Guys. I have never worked on an IP office at all and your help. I have an IP office 500 cabinet that was powered down and when it was powered back up it never came up. I believe the power supply died after power down. If I get another IP office 500 V2 cabinet and remove the SD card from the dead cabinet and install the SD card in my new cabinet will I need to make any changes to the new cabinet to make it work or will the programming upload from the SD cabinet and nothing else will need to be programmed. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

all you need to do is "usually" to do exactly that, you put the SD card in the new chassis and it will upgrade and install the backup configuration.
That is true for about 99% of times.
Should that not work come back and then I can go through the elaborate procedure to make it work.

they all stink and I usually burn them in at the office for as long as I can before they go out to customers. I also reboot them a few times (nasty reboot by pulling the plug) before I let them go to customers. The last thing you want to do is to bring a system out and it fails a day later.
I only had 1 power supply die on site and one the day of the install when I arrived in the office it was done before taking it to site both V2's btw none of my V1's died, they only die in Europe due to the 230V rather than our more moderate 115V

My bad....The IP Office 500 I'm working with is a version 1 not version 2 as I thought. When I examined the downed system was the time when I realized it was IP office 500 V1. What should be the proper steps for replacing the down Ip Office 500 V1. Will I need to configure the system or will the configuration upload to the new cabinet. I did not see any SD memory cards. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
You will have to reprogram the IP500v2 or if you have a recent backup then send this config to the IP500v2.
Open the config with manager and send it as an ofline config.
Job done.
When you do not have a backup then it is possible to replace the power supply with the power supply of the IP500v2.
It is a job to do but the config is in the flash memory of the IP500v1.

The only broken IP500v2 power supply I have ever seen is the one they put 400 volts on it instead of the regular 230 volts.

That smell is the lacquer they coat some components in - often the ferrite cores to stop them buzzing - and as it heats, it smells a bit. I strangely like the smell of a new switch mode PSU

Thanks to everyone that replied. I received my IP Office 500 V1 yesterday and all it took was about 40 minutes to remove the power supply from the unit I received and install it in my downed system. After the system was powered up all that was required was a reboot for the system to see the other IP Office cabinets. None of the data was lost and I checked all extensions and everything was working great and I was out of there in less than 1 hour. Thanks again!
