Any thoughts on how to provide an off premise notification to a user that they have a new voicemail (cant be email, customer doesn't have smart phone).

Customer does not have a server or "always on" pc, no smart phones, and doesn't want "live" calls coming direct to cel after hours; but wants to know if they have received a new voicemail at their office extension.

IP500 v2 R6.0.8
embedded mail, 2port

Any thoughts?

Does there Mobile provier provide an e-mail to SMS gateway ?
Assuming VM Pro the email alert feature can be used to send a text msg.
Alternativly you can configure VM ringbacks to phone the user & deliver messages.

I'm going to look into the sms when I get to the customers site. Might be the way to go.

No vmpro, its embedded-2 port

RE:ringback, correct if wrong. Ringback only rings the vm target extension, this number is part of the main huntgroup and forwarding to a "phantom" extension is not feasible.

Thanks...

it is possible to set a ringback to an external number
chech the doccumnets fro the P character in source numbers
the options were enhanced furtgher in V4 allowing a list of numbers for allerting to be created.
unfortunatly both req VM Pro

Embeded VM can be configured to mail via SMTP so this is probably your best option

went with vmail to email and the sms gateway....great suggestion.

This is great for small business on embedded mail with no servers or smartphones and still want off premise notification without actually fielding calls in the middle of the night.

Typical - Cust wants High End Features While paying peanuts
Still this should work for a while, mayby later you could upsell them to VM Pro with proper alert escalation :)
