When using the softphone, after you dial a number, how do you enter additional digits when there is a tone? I'm testing the softphone at the moment for some of our remote employees to start using. However, when dialing long distance our outbound trunks require a long distance code. Immediately after dialing a long distance number, a tone is played for entering in the code.. with the softphone, when this tone happens I am not able to enter any additional digits. I've tried dialing the number and using commas, ~p, p, and Y followed the long distance code but none of them have worked.

Thanks.

Just adding to this.. is it possible to setup a shortcode for an extension to auto-dial the shortcode?
Something like..
Dial Direct
9N
N,12345

But then I assume that would just create problems with local calling..

It works fine for me, once connected I can dial DTMF tones. Try calling yourself on your mobile/cell and test, if it works and you hear DTMF the provider is doing something to stop it working with account codes or doesn't recognise the tomes :)

It seems that the Softphone isn't recognizing the tone played by the carrier.. the issue occurs because there isn't any ringing prior to the tone for the LD code. When you dial a long distance number, it immediately plays the tone to prompt for the LD code. The softphone is not allowing me to enter in any additional digits. Trying to only starts a second outbound call.

I do not have control over this tone, nor can the carrier disable the LD code for a single user.. the LD codes are used for billing to tenants within the building, so disabling them all together isn't really favorable.

Basically, my call is not yet connected when it plays the tone for the LD code. Thus, the Softphone is probably viewing it as a busy signal/disconnected signal.

I doubt it. The tone is specific in frequency for the LD code v.s. a busy signal.

You can try using the Y character in the shortcode when using a PRI.

Y - Wait for Call Progress Message
Wait for a Call Progress or Call Proceeding message before sending any following digits as DTMF. For example, the Y character would be necessary at a site where they have signed up with their telephone service provider to withhold international dialing until a DTMF pin/account number is entered that initiates the call progress/proceeding message.

I tried using the Y character when dialing from the softphone and it did not make a difference. I have managed to setup the shortcode as follows that allows me to make long distance calls from the softphone:

Code: 9N
Feature: Dial
Telephone #: N,,Y12345

However... I previously used the code 9N for adding the CID information to my calls.. with the Telephone # being 9NsXXXXXXX. Now it goes back to just displaying a users extension on the call recipients CID.

What would be my next option for specifying the CID display for this user?

Well, I guess I found the work around for it.. incorporated the CID sending with the LDAC.

Code: 9N
Feature: Dial
Telephone #: NsXXXXXXXXXX,,Y1235
