I found an interesting and thus far insurmountable bug on one of my demo kits. Just wonder if anyone else has run into it since you wouldn't likely do this in the real world. When switching an 8.1 system with a valid upgrade license from IP Office to Basic mode, the 8.1 upgrade license becomes 'dormant'. A full reset of the chasis (bootp and all) as well as recreating the SD Card and loading hte upgrade license does not fix the problem.
Scenario A:
1)Fully operation IPO500v2 Advanced Edition lab system running 8.1 with valid upgrade licenses.
2)Change mode via advanced menu options.
3)After reboot all phones display 'license required' and license is listed as 'dormant' other upgrade licenses list 'obsolete'
4)View via the upgrade wizard displays installed upgrade license as '5' release 8.0.
Scenario B:
1)Perform full reset of Chassis, use bootp to load ip500v2.bin
2)Format and recreate SD card IPO Mu Law
3)Power up system, phones display 'license required'
4)Open manager select Basic mode and load upgrade license key, save to system.
4)Reboot system, phones still display 'license requried'
5)Manager displays 8.1 system in basic mode. License key reads 'dormant'.
6)Attempt to add previous license keys (system originally a 6.1 system) they also read dormant.
7)Attempt downgrade of SD card to release 8.0, same result 'license required on phones
8)System status says system requires license to operate.
Scenario C:
1)Perform full reset of chassis, use bootp to load bin file.
2)Format and recreate SD Card 8.0.18 mu law
3)Power up system, select basic mode, load 8.0 upgrade license key (5)
4)Reboot, phones still say 'no license available' 8.0 license now listed as dormant.
5)load saved IPO standard mode configuration, system reboots and behaves normally on 8.0.18
Scenario D:
1)Defaulted database in IPO standard mode, loaded the upgrade license and essential edition license only for 8.1
2)System operates normally with default DB and license keys in standard mode.
3)Switch to BASIC mode, system says 'no license available' and dormant on upgrade key.
IDEA, is this because of the virtual extensions (up to 52) that are configured by default in basic mode and cannot be removed. Can anyone find in the release notes where basic edition requires a large system license key?
