Is there a way to set up an emergency closure greeting using embedded VM where a user can call in and remotely make the change through an option.

Yes - there are many different possibilities. Which is appropriate depends on how your auto attendant is configured. Best bet is to contact your Avaya Business Partner.

We are the programmers. VM Pro is easy enough but getting this to work with embedded is proving to be challenging.

I agree. You can set a short code to put a group out of service but how would you password protect it using Embedded?
How about remote access and using Manager?

I was hoping to be able to use DTMF Breakout fronm the password protected user mailbox but can access the HG out of service that way. Remote access is the best bet I guess. I am trying to get this to work for a co-worker. Not sure if they have VPN access to the IPO.

ecs99ny...i don't see why that would not work.
off an auto attendant, you could do a *17 to access voicemail.
setup a USER (not HG, they don't have dtmf breakout), put option 0/2/3 (embedded is *0/*2/*3) to *20*N# (replace N with hg extension) to set the group out of service or night service.
Might setup the *2 to night/out and a *3 to clear it.

AA con I tried that. I set that up in our office switch with a pri to a user. Use the short code for DTMF 2 *20*2000#. It just disconnects me.

actually I just realized why that would not work...you reach 0/2/3 when you leave a message...not when accessing the mailbox; so then technically anyone could put it out of service.

You could do this...not really safe persay...but it it might work

think of a passcode...maybe 1063

On main AA, put * option to transfer to AA AAONE
on AAONE, set option 0 to transfer to AA AAZERO
on AAZERO set option 6 to transfer to option AASIX
on AASIX set option 3 to transfer to shortcode *20*N#

put all other options on each attendant (1/0/6/3) to transfer back to main AA.

convoluted...but it might work. eventually someone might figure out the password, but its no different then someone brute forcing a mailbox pin.

well...does it set it to out of service after it disconnects you?

AA con. Thank you very much for the info. I'm a try that tomorrow on our demo switch

It does not set the HG to out of service.
