Is anyone else having an issue with essential edition group mailboxes on IP500V2 R11.1.2.2.0 where the group with state busy in visual voicemail until you log into the mailbox with dialup administration. Once you access the group vmb through dialup admin you can access the group mailbox through visual voicemail. This is consistent after every reboot of the system. I thought I would ask here before issuing a ticket with AVAYA.

Also, I tried H<Group Number> and H<Group Name> . Either way I have the same results.

Is it just the case that Embedded VM takes about a minute to start working after the system has finished rebooting and the phones work? This is normal.

Embedded vmail can take much longer to come back online after a reboot if you have many mailboxes with many (even deleted) messages. We've seen it take upwards of 25 minutes.

Certainly the reboot issue is true, and its directly proportional to the number of messages, name prompts, greetings and announcements. The system doesn't have a non-volatile database of those. Instead it builds a listing of them all after a system start by reading through the individual file headers to work out what everything is. Very slow and crude, and as far as I know largely unchanged since the original introduction of EVM.

It would honest to say that EVM isn't really suitable for 30+ plus user systems. Yes, bring back VM Lite which was a excellent bridge between the two worlds of EVM and VMPro. It's sad, especially since I suspect that the majority of VMPro customers aren't using any of its callflow customization so they are effectively using VMPro in VMLite mode.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
