Hi guys

I'm relatively new to the IP office and networking so my knowledge is not the best. We have a customer with 2 sites both with IPO 500's, both on 9.1.3. Phones are 9608's at both sites. They are connected together within an SCN, the SCN link connected via a MPLS voice link on the juniper router. Both sites have their own SIP trunks provided by a port on both Juniper routers. The problem we face is that we cannot connect their data network to the IPO and there are only 2 lan ports on the back of the IPO. What is the solution to this problem?

Currently the setup is
LAN 1 10.1.x.x = MPLS voice with IP phones on same IP range
LAN 2 SIP Exchange

The customer would like the IPO to connect to their data network for various reasons like VM to email, manager and Soft Console.

Thanks

Mike

The answer is a router, but the IP Office is one of only a few systems with 2 LAN ports, you would be in even worse shape without it :)

Hi amriddle01

Thanks for responding. So are you saying to connect the SIP exchange trunks into a router, from the router take a patch lead to the Poe switch, patch from the switch into lan 1 on the IPO and connect the voice mpls to the Poe switch? Would this work? Would the sip trunks need a separate gateway?

Thanks

Connect your data network to the juniper and create some firewall rules .So you can use the interface connected to mpls to access IPO from the data network as well.

Why not? is it because the customers IT ont allow it?
The customer would like the IPO to connect to their data network for various reasons like VM to email, manager and Soft Console.
So this should not be a problem after all

The most common configurtion is for the customer data network to be connected to 1 lan port on the IPO & all VoIP services (Ip Handsets , SiP, SCN etc) on the other.
these can either be totaly Isolated networks with their own switches & routers or a dedicated Vlan for voice traffic.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
