So one of the new features in release 11.1 is the ability to use One-X Portal for the IM capability in IX Workplace 3.8 instead of the cloud service Avaya Spaces / Zang.

As anybody been able to get this to work?

There's a setting in Manager in System where you can set the IM provider to be One-X, which I did, but IM functionality in IX is not working. There's a red triangle saying that "Messages may not be up to date". If I hover above the little chat bubble for IM on a contact, it says that "Messages are unavailable".

For some reason, if I go in the XMPP console (OpenFire), I see my users are not even online, but local presence is working and the IM service in One-X is working also. Weird. I reset the IX apps a couple of times also, to no avail.

There's not much info on Avaya's side about this (not surprising), but I figured if there was other settings to change to make this work, this would be documented somewhere.

Yeah, there's no firewall blocking ports and stuff. Everything is inside Esxi.

I have 2 Server Edition Select (primary and secondary) and 2 Windows VM with IX Workplace installed on both.

Only relevant settings I could find in the 46XXsettings.txt would be these:

# K1EXAUTOGENERATEDSETTINGS
SET ENABLE_AVAYA_CLOUD_ACCOUNTS 0
SET ENABLE_IPO_PORTAL_MESSAGING 1

Just out of curiosity, I downloaded Pidgin and logged in with my accounts. I see myBuddy (the One-x bot) being online and can "chat' with him. Presence work. IM between two user works without a hitch as well.

For some obscure reasons, IM doesn't work in IX, but works using another IM application, so the issue doesn't seems to be with the server.

Yeah, the FQDN is set in the OneX Portal Admin pannel. Like I said, I can connect to the internal One-X XMPP server on port 5222 with a third party chat client. I'm doing so by using the server's FQDN, so that part is working. For some reasons, IX refuses to work.

I forgot to mention that a "XMPP group" had to be created in IPO Manager to allow users to send message between each other.

Alright... IX Workplace has to know how to connect to OneX Portal for messaging. So it needs the FQDN and port (5222) somewhere within the settings file or as part of the 200 OK message send from IPO as answer to the SIP registration.

Sorry... I never did that with 11.1. This is only my experience with Avaya Communicator.

IP Office remote service
Fixed price SIP trunk configuration
CLI based call blocking
SCN fallback over PSTN

There's a setting for Multimedia Messaging in IX Workplace so I tried entering the IPO's FQDN in there with port 5222, but same issue.

It should connect to port 9443 like Communicator in the later releases.

IF One-X Portal is part of the main server (IPO Server Select), does it take the identity of that server, or is a separate identity cert needs to be generated and imported into One-X ?

I re-tried this morning with a brand new VM install and used port 9443 in the Mulitimedia service in IX Workplace and got the same error. I wish Avaya would document this better...

I have the same issue with IPO11.1 and Ix workplace 3.8.4.
Did you find a solution for IM not working thru the One X portal.

Yes, I got it to work.

The issue was that my VM had 2 NICs and 2 DSN servers. The name resolution wasn't working for my IPO's FQDN. Once I deactivated the second NIC, it started working.

You gotta make sure that One-X is properly configured with a host name that is correct. I noticed the host name that was automatically set in there was wrong. It was some bunch of non sense caracters. You can put in the IP adress of the IPO server or it's FQDN (must have an A record in your DNS for this to work obviously). Same thing for the XMPP server.

I appreciate you posting back.
I have my FQDN resolved internally and externally fine and the XMPP and Host name is correctly configured as well in One X Portal. The presence work but not the IM If I use one X portal as the messaging server however If switched messaging server to Avaya spaces and use I use the Avaya cloud service IM works fine .Also Ports 5222 and 9443 are open .Are you using IX 3.8.4 release ?

Yes, I'm using the latest version, but in my lab we didn't configured the system to be accessible from the WAN.
