We have an IP Office 500 system and some users can see the button we programmed for voicemail access as "VM" but some other users see it as "*17". These particular buttons are from the user rights settings so they should be the same for all. They want all users to see the button as "VM" on their phone. Is this a bug or some setting?

What software version on what kind of ipoffice?
What kind of phones are used?

4610 phones. Office manager 6.1. IP office version 4.1. IP500 as stated above.

Then you do not have a messages button.
Are you sure that all users have the same button?

there is no "messages" button it is one we have programmed.

Have you programmer the label field? Does it also show in all users button programming? :)

Why not progam the button as "Visual Voice" instead of a *17 "Dial" button? That gives "Voice" against the button.

So the label portion of button programming is useless?

Not in all the systems I use, are all the handsets on the same and correct firmware?

Simple, you pick up the phone and dial 0800-businesspartner.
This is so basic, you better stay away from it.

No you don't but that is ok.
Do like intrigrant advised.
Program a visual voice button instead of dail *17

Go to SSA go to the extensions section then double click each one in turn and you will see the firmware level amongst other things :)

Try assigning the buttons by removing them from that user rights group but then right clicking in the user list and selecting "copy user rights values to users" select the user rights then tick the users, that will assign the button but not lock them and usually works better :)

Thanks AMriddle01 very much. Will give that a try.

OK, figured out why it is happening but I am not sure how to fix it. Each phone that has the issue is set to automatic backup using an FTP server we setup. So any of the phones that do not have this enabled the label shows up properly. But for phones with the Auto Backup enabled the label shows wrong, but the button works. Is there a way I can edit the .txt backup file for the phone to fix this. In the backup .txt file the FB06 button shows up as blank.

OK, i found if I manually update the button label in the .txt backup file, then that updates the phone itself after a logoff and then back on. Thanks for the help. Hope this helps if someone else has the same issue.
