I have an IP500 with 30 SIP trunks but the incoming caller ID is always displayed as "External Call > xxx-xxx-xxxx". All phones are either 4610's or 4621's so they phones aren't the issue.

I researched this problem and the only solutions I found were for analog lines and making sure the Trunk Type dropdown was "Loop Start ICLID". That obviously does me no good!

Is this a carrier issue? Any other ideas? Thanks!

To quote Jamie77:

"i have this very same issue. 4.2(14) and 4.2(17) will work and match the directory ok but releases before and after do not work.

It is to do with changes made to the IP Poffice to fully follow the RFC's.

Basically:
The IPO will match a number to a name in the directoy unless a name is supplied (ie QSIG trunk supplying extn nmae from other side). The RFC states that in the following invit packet segment (from above):
From: "07825363102" <sip:07825363102@as.hipcom.co.uk>;tag=13c7755-13c4-4c62b1aa-1909061e-b0fe84

The "07825363102" part is the name field. Therefore a name is supplied and the IPO displays as such. the means the directory match you can see happening in Monitor is being overridden by the "name" supplied by the SIP provider.

I have puched hard for a fix on the and had my GRIP request accepted. All I can say is this will change in the future, I just don't know when that will be yet. I'm still waiting to find that out!!

If I do find out, I'll try to remember to post back.

Ah, that's disappointing. Thanks for the info though. When did Jamie originally post that? I assume this will take a long time to get corrected.

Hang on, that's for Directory name..... are the - marks an issue in your case?

Nope, it's just the calling name that everyone is complaining about the. Calling number is fine.

Well he posted that 12 Aug 10 18:39, so may be a while. FYI someone has posted a bug on the NPI/trial site for 6.1 about this, so we will have to see what comes of that too :)

Quality cut and paste Andy!!!!

It is still out as a feature request!! Not heard when they will implement this.

Other pbx's give the option to choose sip name OR directory match. That is what I'm hoping we will get. Eventually.
