I have a windows Xp for some reason my internet doesnt work no more. I try pressing ipconfig /release then /renew
but it does not work. I try winsockfix still didnt work. I check the Device Manager the hardware is working properly.
I check the ip already and it does not start at 192 but start at 168. Can someone help me fix this so i can go online. thank in advace.

Try contacting your ISP, sounds like your external IP is funky. Also, if your internal IP the one you can change under Control Panel>Network Connections>"whatever you use for internet connection">"right click" select "properties">TCP/IP config and change it to something with 192.168.x.x. hope that helps at all. im pretty new to Networking.

How are you connecting to the Internet (router or directly connected to cable modem, etc.)? Sounds like there is a problem with DHCP. The IP address you are getting is an APIPA address. This is Windows way of assigning you a temporary address until you can obtain an address from a DHCP server.

I usually used a wireless router...even i plug in directly from the lan port it still doesnt work. So what wrong?

This may help. Try cycling the power on the router by unplugging the router and leaving it unplugged for about a minute.

It not the router because the router connecting to two other computer and those two computer working fine. It just my laptop that is not working

Try downloading new NIC drivers from one of the machines that work and reload your NIC drivers. The manufacturers site may give you multiple choices, so you may have to try until you get one that works. Corrupt drivers could cause the issue.
