I have 2 IPOs configured in a SCN. Site A (IP 500 V2 7.0)is the main site Site B is a new site. Site A has a VMPro server (Version 7.0) locally. I have site B (IP 500 V2 8.1)configured as Centerlized Voicemail. Everything works great except running site B's shortcode *41 (contact Closure) from Site A. Why I need this is because Site B has a Door Phone that autodials an Auto Attendant. The Auto Attendant in being done on the VMPro server at Site A. So when you configure the Auto Attendant to Open the door (Contact Closure *41 IPO Site B), it opens the door at Site A.

I have tried:
1. Creating a new shortcode *338 in Site A where it pluses relay ONE using Line Group ID 20 (an H323 line to Site B in the SCN).
2. Creating a user EXT 277 on Site B that has an unconditional forward to shortcode *41
3. Created a shortcode on site A using feature BREAK OUT using the telephone number as the IP address of Site B like this 192*186*1*12 and Line Group ID 20 and tried Line Group ID 0
4. I also tried creating a new shortcode *337 the does the same thing as shortcode *41.

The above resulted as:
In trial 1. I hit *338 and it still tries to open the door at Site A
In trial 2. If you type in the user's extension number it works fine from site B, but from site A it want to go to the user's Voicemail. I then turned off the user's Voicemail and now site A "Number Busy." From site B there was no change except after the system opens the door the extension rings busy (which is not a big deal).
In trial 3. Nothing happens, like the system is waiting for more numbers, I then press # and it says "Incompatible Disc."
In trial 4. was the same result as using the original *41 shortcode.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, missed that 0, little harder to read traces on a phone:)

Kind regards

Gunnar

and it works locally on the B system?

Westi, good question, yes All short codes work from Site B. Also, all (the ones I have test) short codes that I create or there by default work EXCEPT the contact closure. For example I created a short code (*223) on site B that forward to extension 245. On site A I created a short code *123 using feature BREAK OUT using the telephone number as the IP address of Site B like this 192*186*1*12 and Line Group ID 20. So now on site A, if a user hit *123 (Break out short code) then *223 (short code on site B) it send the call to extension 245. I did this just to test the system.

And maybe you should try moving the R8.1.69 up to R8.1.85 (there was some issues with vmpro in .91 and .95...I tested on a .85) and the R7.0 should be up on the highest as well.

Vmpro can open doors too, but I think it only does that on the main site. Can't remember right now)

Kind regards

Gunnar

You could also create a user on site B and forward it to the SC and see if that works then.

Thanks Westi, I have tried that.. What I did was:

2. Creating a user EXT 277 on Site B that has an unconditional forward to shortcode *41 and found that If you type in the user's extension number it works fine from site B, but from site A it want to go to the user's Voicemail. I then turned off the user's Voicemail and now site A "Number Busy." From site B there was no change except after the system opens the door the extension rings busy (which is not a big deal).

I know there will be an upgrade cost for the Site A (7.0.31). But is there a cost to update to R8.1.85?

There won't be a charge for licensing as long as you stay in release 8.1

There is a licensing cost for all releases that have a change either side of the first decimal place. 7.0>8.0- Yes 9.0>9.1- yes.
9.1 GA> 9.1 SP1- There better not be.

However, you're technician must eat, or he'll be too weak to work next time you need him. Depending on your maintenance level, there is likely a charge for undertaking this on your behalf.

Yukky yukky yoggy

There is no need to upgrade as this has nothing to do with SCN, it is plain H.323 functionality. It should work as it works from day 1 of IP Office release.
The message "send complete=0" suggest that site B it waiting for a send complete signal which usually is a #
So on site A create a shortcode:
*41/*41#/Dial/H.323 line ID
See what happen

wow this is a nasty one.
You could try and default both systems, put the licenses back in and create the IP trunk then try with that. If that works then it is a config issue if not then it has other reasons and you need to keep looking.
You can upload the saved config after the test again so it should not take longer than 10-15 minutes to test

Thanks Westi, I was hoping that I was not the only one that found this strange. Do you know if doing a backup of the system can be used to restore the system back to the way it was? I have never tried this and I hate to experiment on a production IPO. Site A has been running for a few years, and there has been a lot of configuring. If this is what it takes, I am all for it.!

Thanks to everyone for the help. I understand stars are given to those that help you, can I give stars to more than one person? I would truly like to thank Westi, intrigrant and Gunnaro for all the responses! You three have been trying so hard to help!

I will continue on the IPO and report back with updates. If anyone runs across helpful info, please send it my way!

Thanks again everyone!!

Mike

Mike, you can give stars to anyone except yourself (ofc, or else everyone would have a million+).

You may also star multiple persons in the same thread, you won't run out of stars [smile]
But it's only possible to award one star per person per thread, even though this person may have posted several useful tips.
(if you singlehandedly try to double-star, you'll just move it from post to post, which has a very low entrainment value).

As for your systems, are you absolutely sure it is Relay 1 you want to trigger, or could it be Relay 2? That's the num value 1 or 2.

Your last attempt ended in a "TARGET: Not in dial plan", system tried to dial after not finding any matching SC.
(You see that's why I use the #22# code, to get the # Intrigrant pointed out later, but it has to be present on both sides)

Your trace of the #22# code showed H323TrunkEP: SYS SC: #22# 4 sc=type=RelayPulse code=#22#, num=1 callinfop->sending_complete=1

This should have trigger the Relay 1, so please check if it opens on the system side, with button and/or short code, and what relay.

If it's a no go, you're probably facing a rebuild.
In my opinion, upgrading is not a bad idea, I remember having issues with R8.1.69 and the R7.0.31 is a solid build.

Worst case the relays are shot if the system side triggering fails too. That means replacing the chassis.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I would like to thank everyone that tried to help me figure out the 41 short code over SCN. I downgraded both IPO's, then did a default to both units, then upgraded both to 8.1.85. I am still having the exact same problem. I thought that this would work, but unfortunately it does not work.

Thanks again everyone!! I will give stars to those that tried!!

But did the relay work from a local phone then?
If you have IP phones, you could even configure one located at the other site to logon to the system not acting as it should.

(Didn't see much pink though [smile])

Kind regards

Gunnar

Gunnaro,

Yes and Yes. Both locations run the contact closures locally fine. And yes, I have an IP phone at site B which connects directly to site A. I have been reading on many forums and just as IPGuru stated "I doubt that Avaya expected a user at 1 location to be opening a door at another." I even tried just making an incoming call route to a user, and that user had an unconditional forward to *41 shortcode (or a newly created relay pulse code), and it still does not work on any systems I have. So I think Avaya has some sort of permissions on the relay pulse that we can't see. I hope one day Avaya might let us do a relay pulse remotely. I am going to see if I can just open the door calling the local number and opening the door, then I think I might be making some progress.

Thanks again Gunnaro for giving me great suggestions!! I will still fiddle with trying to get this to work, but I will have to find a working solution for now.

You're most welcome [smile]

But as I mentioned earlier, I have this working on a SCN setup. User can control all 4 relays, opening doors and gates from 4 speed dials on their mobiles (twinned)

If you'd like, I can strip the configs for personal info and post them here

Kind regards

Gunnar

Gunnaro,

I would love to see your configuration, but I am not sure if it would help. I don't know what else I can try. I have even tried the most basic setup to see some kind of life, but nothing seems to work. I don't think the configuration on the SCN is incorrect because I can run other short codes over the SCN and I can't even get a DID with a call route to a user with unconditional forward to work. If your config file helps me get this working, I would like to send you a gift card or something as a thank you.

My new fight is getting music on hold to work while the caller is in a queue. That is another strange issue I am having on a completely different setup. Even setting "ring" in the announcement does not work. But that is for another tread.

Thanks again for all your help!!!
