Hello Guru's!
I have a situation which I am stumped now, hopefully someone here has experienced this.......I have two sites same version IPO 9.0.3 With SCN setup. In my SSA it says there connected and small community is up with direct media.
I make a test call from site A to site B, I see it going to the set in site B but no ringing and they can pick it up but no Audio,
both ways.
Any suggestions? There are no firewalls and both sites are setup on there seperate DSL Dry loop circuit with DMZ.

Thanks!

Turn DMP off on the handsets, fix your routing then turn it back on :)

Please tell me I am mistaken in believing that this means both IP Offices have a public IP address?

yes they both have a static. what is DMP on the handsets?

in my VoiP line settings for site A i have
my gateway address (which is site B not the IPO address, and I did try that to.)
SCN
G.729
Media checked

vice versa for site B.

ip route 0.0.0.0
sub: 0.0.0.0
gateway: router/modem

Forget everything else, remove those system from the internet straight away, they'll be hacked within a matter of days and you'll have a huge bill to pay as it will be your fault :)

If I'm not mistaken Dry Loop is supposed to be a point-point line with no internet access. Right?
(I would test that to be sure).

Still a bad idea to have that 0.0.0.0 routes, one day your systems reach the internet by accident.

Kind regards

Gunnar

DryLoop just means that there is no usable dialtone coming with the line. Still regular DsL so start the panic.[hairpull3]

DMP = Direct Media Path and it is a checkmark in the VoIP settings tab of the SCN line

yes a direct media issue

and my provider has the firewall on his end

Ha Ha, yeah do that, please [smile]

Apparently terminology is different around the world...but no usable dial tone?
Why would a DSL have dial tone!

ADSL yes...But don't tell me you have ordered an ADSL for SCN? *catastrophe*

Kind regards

We would call that SDSL (Symmetrical digital subscriber line), but those have pretty much gone away now in favour of Lease line or FTTC/FTTP :)

SDsL are almost unknown here. Only if you want to sell your first born for the monthly charges (which I would love to do on some days) but more common are fiber and cable connections these days as they are just blessed with higher speed.
Some places however can't get DsL (either one) due to the locale and they can sometimes move to line of sight radio towers which work if they are setup right.
We sometimes have ADsL lines that are twinned together so that you get better speed out of them which works nicely but not all the providers offer that.

DSL is the technology, internet is a service added if needed.
Fiber optics is the way to go, indeed!

Anyway, we drifted off pretty good (that coming from me must hilarious)

Camusa, here's an example of a working SCN on a "Dry Loop"

Site A
GW: 10.0.1.1
Switch: 10.0.1.2
IPO A: 10.0.1.3
VMPro A: 10.0.1.4 (Primary VM + DHCP)
Phones 10.0.1.100->
SCN: 10.0.2.3/Grp ID 102/DMP on/SCN Fallback
IP Route 10.0.2.0/MASK/10.0.1.1

Site B
GW: 10.0.2.1
Switch: 10.0.2.2
IPO A: 10.0.2.3
VMPro B: 10.0.2.4 (Backup VM + Xima)
Phones 10.0.2.100->
SCN: 10.0.1.3/Grp ID 101/DMP on/SCN Fallback
IP Route 10.0.1.0/MASK/10.0.2.1

Servers and IPO's have their LAN2 port connected to customers data network for SMTP and Logmein.
IPO firewall is enabled, blocking inside attacks.

(GW on both sites are Cisco 800, only allowing traffic on 10.0.x.x in case the ISP mess up in the future)

Kind regards

Gunnar

Thank you Gunnaro!
And yes I have a firewall setup in IPO.
So please don't panic! lol
You were all great the issue was the DMP!

Thank you all!

Hey, no problem!

But DMP is not the problem here.
You just 'cured' the symptom, not the disease.

And if need to transport Fax or PoS over the SCN, use G711 codec (if your bandwith allows it)

Kind regards

Gunnar

Disabling direct media does not use a VCM, it drops down to RTP relay no VCM required, also this is not an "issue" with IP phones, it's an incorrectly configured network/incorrect network settings entered into the phones :)

Gunnaro,
I put SCN Fallback as per your docs my SCN says down in SSA. But when I put it back to SCN it's up.
My issue was not connectivity but Audio only, call were getting through but no audio.
