Hi all,
I am new to avaya, this my first system install I have done.I have setup fortivoice phones systems before.
I have the system up and running and can make phone calls in and out.
I have a few questions.
1. How do I setup a night button with a particle message.
2. How do I make ring groups?
3. How do you program buttons on the phone?
I can access the web interface and I have installed the manager software.

This is my system
8 1416 Digital Telephone
1 Avaya IP Office 500 Control Unit
1 IPO 500 SD Card
1 IP500v2 Combination Card
1 IP500v2 Analog Trunk Card 4
1 Digital Station 8 Card

Sorry, but we aren't here to provide free training. You are selling this stuff as a competitor to us and you want us to teach you how. If you are a fellow tech who is stuck on a technical procedure or complex issue fair enough, but we aren't going to spoon feed you the basics :)

I am not selling these products nor am I a competitor. This was one off thing to help a friend out. I don't install phones systems for a living. I work in the IS Security world. In my whole life I have installed 1 fortinet phones system. I am not trying to steal your lively hood.
Just need some help configuring.
Thanks
Mike

Without spending hours in a training class, the best I can offer is to go to the section you have questions on and hit the help button. Also Search the Help files. Each help is associated to the page you are on. Most people need 3-6 months of programming to become competent on the system. There are many ways to do the same thing on the system.
Also YouTube should become your friend. Lots of good videos on the system.

3) buttons are programmed per user under the user/button programming tab or you can set them in user rights and assign the user to that rights group. User overrides user rights.

2) ring groups are hunt groups You define which hunt group rings under incoming call route

1) this one gets complicated.

Thanks for the info that was helpful.
I was looking through the manual today and it stated that if a phone has line appearance turned on then the trunk will ring all phones with line appearance. So if I created a hunt group. with the the two ext it still rings them all even if i set the cover in the trunk.

If I remove line appearance from all phones except the ones i want to ring that seems to work. But I cant figure out how to setup dial 9 to grab and outside line. Everything i read online starts with using shortcodes. I am using the the basic licence of avaya i don't see a setting for short codes. Is there a way around this?
Thanks
Mike

You can also have a line appearance on the phone and set it to not ring.
