Hi heathersuzanne:

Do a 'list reg' command and check the version of firmware on the phones.

Service Pack 5 will show up as 6.020S
Service Pack 4 was 6.016S and 6.016T
Service Pack 2 was 6.008S

The older the service pack the lower the number and the higher the rick of bugs. There were problems early on with Screen Anomalies as the AVAYA docs called them. Service Pack 5 has performed well on my 360 9608 phones so far.

Thanks

Has anyone had trouble unpacking a service pack on the CM Utility?. Also, if someone could give me the link to the technical document that describes the correct way to load new phone firmware on to a utility server running 6.1. It would be greatly appricated.

Has anyone out there got a 2008 server and using IIS to deploy new firmware and backup 96X1 phones to it? If you are how did you get the phones to back up?

We are on:
Service Pack 5 6.020S

We currently are still seeing Freezing and rebooting issues on all our 9611G phones.

We were hoping that this was the magic fix, it was not.

What should we do we just did a big deployment(Oct 2011) of almost 400 of these phones along with 9 total Avaya servers to 6.0 the 9630s do not appear to have any problems.

There is a new release of the 96X1 H323 firmware, shows as "6.020Z", this has the fix to load on the "utility server" now as well (a certificate expired on 11/13/2011, and has been replaced with a newer certificate)

Give this version a try, I received this link from a Tier 3 person I have been working with at AVAYA, on the Utility Server issue. I have installed it on several Utility servers, and also upgraded several phones, seems to work.

Why was the thread scrubbed, I don’t see the last posts from me and avayasmith?

I posted and update over a week ago about our success with the 6.2000 firmware on our 9611 phones.

I see Avaya just release the 6.020Z firmware but I am staying with 6.2000.

JRADO,

As you mention, 6.020z is the latest release for the 96x1 H.323 6.0 load line and is avaiable to all users as a GA solution. The 6.020z load can be downloaded from the Avaya Support website via link ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/AvayaT4APP/IPT/96x1PatchesAndSoftware/R6.0xx/96x1-IPT-H323-R6_0_5-121111.zip

The 6.020z version contains the following changes to fix issues found in SP5 (a.k.a 6.020s):

•Phone doesn't reset its ip address, after it receives DHCPNAK message from the server.

•96x1 R6.0 SP5 sends DHCP renewal request only once, and never after that.

•locks up during DNS string parse and reboots.

•9641 IP Phones timer not resetting.

•9641 Phones getting dead air calls.

•Customer cannot upgrade the phones with utility server because RootSA.txt file validity is expired.

Glad to hear that your having a positive experience with the 6.2 BETA release and looking forward to GA. If you have any questions or comments regarding 6.2, please contact your Avaya and/or Avaya Authorized representative.

i have 9608 phones running version 6.020S. When I put the G430 in SLS mode, the phones act like they come up in SLS mode, but then if you pick the handset up - there's nothing. No dial tone - nothing. when you hang up the set, it goes back to discover for the ip address of the CM. Anybody got this to work with CM6, SLS on the G430 and 9608 phones running SP5?

thanks,
Holly

Hi Holly

I have this working at a site that I installed this weekend.
Am using CM6 with G430, and programmed all my phone for SLS. Also, using SP5 aka 6.020S. I will test some more to see if I can duplicate.

In your G430 do you have this line in your config?

"NO IP ARP INSPECTION"

It sounds like you are having a problem that this command might fix. Enter it from the CLI in your G430.

Matt

Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I am sure that I do not have that line in the CLI of the G430. What does it do? The error message on the phone says "System Error. Please Wait" then goes back to discover - the ip address of the CM.

I will give it a try and let you know. Thanks for the post.

Holly

Has anyone experienced line noise with a 9611 set during calls? We are running CM 6.01 with CLAN registration running the 6.020z firmware.

Matt,

The NO IP ARP INSPECTION did not fix the problem.

there is a problem with SP5 and the phone registration. wireshark sniffs prove it. i've got an open ticket with avaya. SP6 beta fixed SLS with 9608 phone.

Holly

Holly:

I am not surprised. I put my newest loction in to SLS and some of the phones were registered and working and several others were in discover. SP5 of course. Another of my observations is that the clock on my phone doesn't stay current. It will update to the current time if I punch the phone button to ask for an update to the screen. Are you running the SP6 beta?

Matt.

i've got it on one phone for testing purposes in my lab.

anyone know of any more beta patches being released?

i prefer clarity to agreement - dennis prager

Avaya told me that SP6 GA would be released this month.

about 1.5 YEARS after gwebster started this thread and there MAY finally be a release of software that allows us to use the phones we bought. we'll see...

Hi,
We are experiencing a strange issue with this new version : when we do a listtrace station XXX, we can see jitter between 4 or 5 with the 9611 which are on the R.62, but not on the 9611 which are on previous firmwares (6.022E or 6.020Z, jitter is between 0 and 1)).
Can somone confirm this problem ?
Our users complain about sound quality issue with handset or speaker !
A doubt one day these phones will work correctly.
