Anyone using 6.2209 on a 9641G without echo or static? We are hearing random complaints about it. Trying to track if they are internal or external but I have experienced it also and my experiences are all interal (but some are across the WAN). Some are internal within the same office - we have adjusted the AGC settings on phones that complain (cutting all off) and it does not matter. Not having these issues with our 9650s.

Putting this infront again - please see question above.

ECHO:
I have about 600 9608's running on 6.2209. Usually the only echo complaints I hear about or experience personally involve improperly adjusted headsets. If you are getting this issue without a headset being used try turning down the handset volume on the far side of the conversation. The near side being the party hearing the echo. The official Avaya explanation for echo is that the far side of the call is too loud (too much gain/volume), and the far side mic is able to hear it and feed it back. If you think about the far side handset being lightweight and plastic, and then you crank up the earpiece volume loud enough to resonate through the handset, the mic should in theory be able to pick this up.

STATIC:
As for static, I have had to replace a G350, and a G430 to resolve static issues to the PSTN. Recently one of my G430's wasn't just having static over my PRI but the analog trunks that were in use as well. Resetting the DSP resource at the G430 CLI helped us limp by until the replacement arrived.

One other question on the 9641G - volume control on the audible alert. For some, it seems to be a huge annoyance if they adjust their ringer to an acceptable level, the phone reboots for whatever reason, the volume shoots way up on the ringer...is there a way to set/save the volume in the 46xx settings file? I'm still looking...

Happy Labor Day Weekend:

I am upgrading my 9608 fleet to H323 version 6.2408. Also known as 6.2 SP4. Does anyone have any 9608 phones where the Voice Dialing feature is working? According to documents that I got from support.avaya.com, this feature is supposed to be available now. But of course it isn't working for me. I have done the obvious things required in the 46xxsettings file, and have turned the feature on at the phone, but when I go to Contacts and press 'Voice' I get nothing.

My phone shows me the languages I selected.
I can turn the 'Voice' option on and off via the 'Options & Settings' in the phones menu's.

Everything is just like the AVAYA docs describe with one exception. Pressing 'Voice' doesn't do anything. No tone, no screen change, nothing.

I miss the days when I worked on 9620, 9630, 9640, 9650, etc phones. Those phones worked as advertised, but this 96x1 garbage, not so much.
Hard to believe it has been 3 years since the 9608 and family first appeared and they still aren't as functional as the previous breed of AVAYA phones.

Perhaps I am just being negative. :)

Have you tried with the latest version? 6.3.0.37 was just released 27AUG2013.

Strangely when I checked the website for version 6.3.0.37 I noticed this in bold red letters.

Please note that the feature Voice Initiated Dialing is no longer supported as of this software release.

What are the jokers at AVAYA thinking!!!!
I guess there is probably no point in trying this version of software.

Got to be a clue in there somewhere :) , and what was Avaya thinking ...i think the key here is they where not never do and probably never will think..they just act with impunity and leave us techs to pick up the pieces.[banghead]

Is anyone else having issues with 9611g running 6.3.037 freezing? We had an issue where sets are no longer ringing or displaying missed calls, voice mails, etc. The phones look fine and you can still get dial-tone and make calls, but nothing else on the phones work. You also do not see the active line picking up or the digits you are dialing on the display. The only way to fix is to either reboot the phone's or logout/login to the ext.

Any thoughts?

These firmware updates they put out always have some issue with them. For such a simple task doing these fw upgrades on a large quantity of phones is just so tedious. I find that doing huge bulks of them cause some phones to hang and not pull the upgrade or labels get messed up...

However, I will say that I was running 3.105S and had several issues with the call log and calls defaulting to a bridged line, opened a support case and received a very quick turnaround of a updated beta code with the fixes. Surprisingly.
