internet access for upgrade

I do not have access to the internet through my 3300 wan port. I was wondering if I could hook up a dsl router through a usb port on my installer laptop. (I can bring dsl to the sight for this.) I would assign the router on the same subnet as my 3300 and laptop, and assign the default gateway on laptop to dsl router. The router will be doing the ppoe connection. This way I will be able to connect to amc. I have heard you can do this same thing using dialup. Has anyone tried this?

I really want to respond but this is the kind of request that defies logic. Why not have internet access? Get into the 21st century already.

If for whatever reason the 3300 does not have access to the internet, but the laptop does, there is no need for extreme measures.

The software installer tool will make the internet request thru the Laptop.

I have done this on occasion using dialup access to the internet on my laptop. No worries.

kwmitel, thank you for your response. I will go ahead and try the dsl. nytalkin, there is internet access available at the sight. The reason I am using the dsl modem is because the way the addressing scheme is set for the vlan. The wan port will not go to AMC. This is per Mitel Tech support. Since the vlan will be off during upgrade access will also be unavailable on the customers lan. If you feel the need to rant, go ahead and do so. But I feel negative posts are not needed here.
