Folks,

I need to block caller ID to the users. The CLEC says they cannot block caller ID. I have tried a few short-codes and VM Pro but the caller ID from outside still comes in after the call is picked up. Anyone have any ideas? This is a security issue for the company. They cannot have the people answering the phones see who is calling in.

Thanks,

Have you tried tagging the calls on Incoming call route with something like "Withheld", that will work while ringing. And once they are connected when the number would normally show adding the HIDE_CALL_STATE to the No User source number field might hide the number. Try it

amriddle01,

still shows the incoming caller ID. There has got to be a way to block the ID.

Line providors would normally do this for you, you may be able to achieve this with a little shortcode programming, it would mean targeting shortcodes though instead of actual uers though so huntgroups will get messed up etc.

Try a shortcode as follows:
SC - 300
Tel number - 200S"Blocked Number" (obviously change this to your ext range)
Line gp - 0
Feature - Dial Extn/Station

Did this work?

it doesnt mr riddler. also tried using W instead of S but nice feature all the same.

there seems to be no way of blocking the id coming in (bar removing the screens of the phones/giving out dark sunglases)which is normal telco options.

The only way i could think of is looping the IPO back into itself by some method, IP/ISDN/QSIG/2nIPO/SIP But this would be dependant of cost versus requirement/number of calls simultaneously/growth/#ofextensions/digital IP or analogue extns...

Any other ideas?

Maybe a "tag" works for you, goto incomming call route > fill in a long name or spaces in the tag option.

Didn't see that mr riddle already gave that option.

No, none of them work. The tag only seems to work on PMP and SoftConsole. Even if I go through vmp, it blocks the number at first but as soon as the call is transferred and the person answering goes off-hook, the caller id shows up. Looks like we have a request for Avaya.

thats from 2004!

arsene knows......

everything. apart from the importance of depth in a squad. and what a chequebook looks like......

I know, like I said it used to work but not anymore. It's another example of development losing versatility in one area to fix another I think.

Guessing the CO facility is a PRI, how about having it changed to a standard T-1 with emulated E&M trunks for 2 way DID? Most Clec's charge about the same for this service.
Just a poor old telephones guys suggestion:

43 years in the business and counting.

POC

Create a system shortcode:
SC = *93XXX ( the x's math the internal extensionnbr length)
Action = DialExtension
TN = NW
LineID = 0 !mandatory

Route incoming calls to *93extension number and during ringing the screen is empty, only when answered you will see the CLI number.

Just a thought, as I've never come across a situation like this, so I haven't tried it. Forwarded calls show the caller ID of the IP Office, so you could try funnelling your calls through some forwarded extension. Set the extension to forward back into one of your DIDs. That may not be practical if you have a lot of DIDs to program, but it should work.

My solution does not work anymore i'm afraid.
Should have been a bug in the past when it did work....

I see no solution for hiding incoming numbers

already tried the w and s settings intigrant, neither working.

so are we back to looping the calls into itself via S-BUS DDIs etc Dizzyphil? How many agents need the cli turned off and how many concurrent calls?

I would rather just the two agents I am working on. But it looks like it is all or none. It is a PRI and the C-LEC insists they cannot turn off incoming caller ID. (I find odd) I have talked to the Administrator and they said it could be all in the facility not getting caller ID.
