I have a Compaq Presario 7470 running Windows 98 Se. The other day I defraged it with Diskeeper and started having troubles opening web pages. I connect to the Internet OK, but my ISP web page doesn’t open and when I try to open my Internet Explorer it cannot find the page either! So I click Ctrl, Alt and delete to see what was wrong. It said that Iamapp was not responding so I closed it, but that did not do it. So I reopened the \close programs\ and now it says iexplore is not responding so I close that and then the Internet Explorer opens. Iamapp is for Norton Security. I don’t know what iexplore is. I have tried restoring Windows Explorer back to its previous version but that didn’t help. I tried un-installing Windows Explorer and reinstalling but that didn’t help either. So I went to C:\\ Windows \ options \ cabs \ setup.exe to reinstall Windows 98 without fully reinstalling. This did not solve the problem either.

Below you will find what Close Programs as listed.
1. Explorer
2. Iam
3. Navapw32
4. Msnmsgr
5. iexplore.exe
6. Systray
7. Rnaapp
8. Iamapp
9. Carpserv

Navapw32 and Iamapp always say “not responding” first and I used to close them first but that never help until I closed iexplore.exe then my Windows Explorer will open without reclicking to open. So I quickly started closing iexplore.exe first then everything opens fine and have no more troubles.

Can you help fix this without doing a full reinstall?

Sincerely,
Robert

freaser, if spybot took you to a 'buy' page then it's not the spybot search & destroy program that carr gave the link for. There are some other 'pay services' that are trying to capitalize on the real Spybot's reputation. Use the link carr provided above.

Wow, I must've missed that freaser post..
You're absolutely correct..there should be NO "buy" page in using SpyBot S&D....and yes others have tried to capitalize on the program greatly...

May I suggest you start a new thread as your issue may/may not be directly related...and by doing this, you'll insure a lot less confusion for those responding....
You can simply highlight , copy and paste your already written text into the new thread..

plus your more likely to get more specific responses, concerning your issue

On my laptop I have an old version of Spybot 12 and it is the Search and destroy. When I ran that on my laptop it only took about 5 minutes to check 15 Gig. The one on the hyper-link took almost 50 minutes for 3 Gig. I don't have my network up to transfer the file. (Working on that and will put that on the desktop if I cannot find newer version.) I will put it on my flash card and transfer it that way.
