FF820 and Missing DTMF on a 500 running 7.0.12

Hey All,

I have a FaxFinder 820 that will occasionally receive a fax displayed as RING or 677T (for example) where the extensions was 6707 and it strpped a digit. These are occuring maybe 10% of the volme and most tims the admin will forward it on, so it is not like we are losing our faxes. However it is an annoyance.

In speaking with Multitech they state that they will only "capture" what is sent.

In the IP Office, I have double and triple checked the progamming from extension to user to huntgroup. They are set up DTMFF, in a sequential huntgroup, with voicemail turned off.

Any one seen this one recently. When I searched on it in the tek-tips the last one I seen with this issue was in '09.

if you could get a trace of it in monitor that should definitely show where the problem is.

We have a trace running and I am now waiting on it to fail again. I enabled the settings under SYS MON per this section of the Systm Monitor Guide.

Problems Involving Non-IP Phones
Enable the following Monitor settings:
• Call/Packets/Line Send
• Call/ Packets/Line Receive
• Call/ Packets/Extension Send
• Call/ Packets/Extension Receive
• Call/ Packets/Extension RxP
• Call/ Packets/Extension TxP
• Call/ Packets/Short Code Msgs
• Call/Events/Call Delta
• Call/Events/Targetting
• Call/Events/Call Logging

Can you think of any other traces to enable for DTMF capture? If this doesn't work I was going to scrounge up a digit grabber to place on port 1 of the FaxFinder.

Run System status.
click on snapshot and let it do a continous log.
Then after it failed you can do a playback and look at those extensions.
You will see DTMF digits too.

Here is a Trace from this morning. IT rang to the FaxFinder and instead of showing the routing digits in the FasFinder it stated the destination was "RING" so it defaulted to the admin account.

I would suggest that you not use the whole forwarded user method for connecting to a fax finder.

Turn off DTMFF on your extensions and just set them to Off for caller ID.

Create a short code
*971XXXX
Dial Extn
FaxHuntExtnDN (e.g. 1000DN)

Point your incoming call route to this short code
Number: 9711049
Dest: *9711049
Tag: Fax George King (this is optional)

Such a cleaner way to do it and all those extra users take up more memory in the unit than a short code does.

I will test this out and see how it goes. There are a fair amount of em using the " 1 Number " for Desk, Mobile, Fax. I will have to go through the VMPro modules and adapt them all to SC instead of Extn for the Fax destinations. Thanks for the heads up.

I've used both methods and both should work but the short code, in the long run, is simpler, cleaner and requires much less memory.
