Looking for better solution to connect external music source with 600 or 8 ohm output to 10K ohm external music input of IP500.
I have been using a Bogen WMT-1 with RCA to 3.5mm stereo adapter. It works fine but looking for something less expensive. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The following is direct from the manual.

This port is a 3.5mm stereo jack socket suitable for use with the most standard audio leads and connection to the
'headphone' output socket of most audio systems.

The use of a 'headphone' socket allows simple volume adjustment. Connection via a 'Line Out' socket may require
additional equipment in order to adjust the volume level.

Pin No. Description

Common Common

Left Audio In - Left Channel.

Right Audio In - Right - Channel.

· Input impedance: 10k /channel. Maximum a.c. signal – 200mV rms.

You can just use a bargain bin mp3 player/cd player they both work fine, no need for a dedicated device :)

Issue is with connecting existing MOH sources that have 600 or 8 Ohm outputs. Example - Music On Hold units, radios, etc.

Thanks for the reply.

Have a look here;

I think you're making this harder than it needs to be. Plug cable from MP3 or whatever source headset, or 8 ohm jack into audio jack on the back of IP500. Set the volume on the source device and make sure it never stops playing. And then be happy. If you use "line level" (600 ohm) you may need an intermediary piece of equipment.

Please read carefully. Issue is EXISTING MOH source has a 600 ohm output and the IP500 has a 10,000 (10k)ohm input.

If you connect the MOH source directly to the IP500 the music on hold volume is to low to hear. You must put install a 600 to 10k audio transformer between the MOH source & IP500 to match the 10k audio input of the IP500.

I know I can use an MP3 player, etc but they all have a 10k output. Customers that spend several hundreds of dollars on digital message on hold units or have digital music subscriptions do not want to be told they have to replace them.

I am just looking for some thing that will do the job of a Bogen WMT-1 but is less expensive.

Thanks

Have you tried using a PC sound card to do the amplififcation? If they have VM Pro or a PC close by the system I imagine it would be very easy to do :)

I thought that your original post stated 8 ohm... maybe my browser showed it incorrectly. I've not had a minute of trouble connecting any 8 ohm directly to IP500. Sorry for the mis-read...

I tried connecting a sansa mp3 player as external MPH source.I used a regular rca cable to connect my mp3 player (which has an mp3 song playing in repeat mode)to the audio in port on the back of my IP Office 500 unit.

Now the on hold music is silent and even when I dial *34 it is silent.

Can some one help me out please ?

Thanks

If you plug that same lead and player into the Mic port on a PC do you hear anything? I have yet to see an IP Office with a faulty audio port, is it set to external in the IP office and did you reboot after making the change?

Yes, if connect the mp3 player to mic on a pc, I can hear music playing.

I connected the port to Audio in only as it was pretty clear on the back of the IP Office device.

Once I connected it, I changed the MOD to look for external source in the IP Office manager under system tab.

I rebooted the system as well as power cycled it too.

But still the issue stays the same.
