Hi all,

Having some issues with embedded voicemail. Working on an ip office 500 v2 8.0. My problem is getting into the voicemail without additional steps.

The system is being used in a small hotel setting. They need the shortcode to go directly into voicemail. All the options I have tried ask for an extension and password, though. And I've never had this happen before. In fact I believe I had to ask you all how to make that not happen on a hospital system I was working on back in the before time.

So I've tried the voicemail collect with "?U",?"U", "?Extn101", "?101"... Every time it asks me for the extension number. I have the v101 as a source number.

Then I have the issue of a password. If I delete the password, each time it asks me for a new password. Need to have no password if that is possible. I don't remember having that problem either, although most of the phones I work with are digital instead of analog.

Lastly,if there is any way not to have to put in a name for the extension (ie, the basic name for the extension), that would be great too. Not sure if that can be bypassed and I have a plan B for that, so if no, then no. 1 and 2 are real issues at this location though.

Insights?

Thanks in advance. And happy Thanksgiving!!

Use Telephone number- ?"U200" or another extension. It doesn't matter. System should ask for extension and password at that time.
Avaya changed it up between versions. Some worked the way you wanted and others you have to put in the new shortcode. Rel. 10 needs the Shortcode.

They're hoping for no extension and no password for each phone. Maybe I said it incorrectly. There is a message button on the phone. When they pick it up and hit the message button, we want no option for extension or password. Just straight to the actual voicemail.

Oh. I mis-read.
Your options are either Visual Voice for the office digital/IP phones or have the staff setup their password and name for each extension. It will never ask again if you've kept V(extn#) in the Source Numbers tab.
Your solution won't work if you expect the hotel room phones to use the IP Office voicemail.
You need a hospitality suite like Duvoice.

So if the extension, password, and "user name" are already set up, there is still no way I can make this work with analog phones is what you are saying?

Intuity or IP Office mode?

Had an eng who had trouble accessing a group mailbox on a new system
it seems that Avaya may have broken some functionality in embedded VM (no surprise as since development moved to the US they have completely ignored IP office mode)

Not sure if you got it fixed but funny enough had the same issue today

Well, turns out I'm an idiot. They have voicemail pro, not embedded. It's been a year since I worked on the system and I guess I forgot we did that. Anyhow, the problem was the same. It's not something I have run into yet. On our work system, *17 takes us directly into voicemail and we have pro as well. Shortcode was never changed, Voicemail Collect, ?U.... So I still don't know what the underlying issue is, but with the voicemail pro I was able to work around it. Just made a shortcode in Avaya for Voicemail Collect, "VMail" and a shortcode in the voicemail pro system called "VMail" that only opened the users voicemail. No prompt for extension, no prompt for password. Again, first time I have ever had to do it that way, but I knew as soon as I saw there was a voicemai pro on it, I was way better off.

Westi, I tried your way first. Didn't work for me :(

Thanks for the responses!

You got it working so a happy customer. That is all that counts at the end.
Mine was for embedded so I hope that next time I run into that it works for me again.
Have a star for posting the results
