I have an IP500 4.2(4) using an upgraded embedded vmail card, with queuing turned on that won't play the locally recorded announcement. The calls ring into the Main huntgroup 276 and it rings 4-5 times and I can hear vmail pick up and see in status active calls that it should be playing Announcement 1(connected) but the caller hears nothing but dead air. The phones continue to ring and if I pick up I am connected. I am dialing *1276# recording my message and saving it using the short code *1N#, Record Message, N".1" for the Play 1st Announcement and *2276# for the Play 2nd Announcement. I pushed a 4.1 (12) config into the upgraded system 4.2(4)and everything works fine but this. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you saying you use a shortcode to record yor announcmeny then another to save it? This isn't right. You need to record it using the *1N# Record message shortcode. Or have I misread your post?

I see now sorry, by default I thinks it's *91N# though.

Probably did not press 3 to save the announcement
A common made mistake

My short codes for record announcements are as follows
*1N#, N".1" Record Message
*2N#, N".2" Record Message
*91N; N".1" Record Message
*92N; N".2" Record Message

Not sure why there are four of them maybe from using an old config 4.1(12) in an upgraded 4.2(4) system? I did try recording an announcement using *91276# and was able to record a message but still nothing. Should I delete the first two record message short codes from the above list and modify that the last to to be *91N# and *92N# ?
Thanks

The mthod of recording should not effect the end result really. did you save the new prompt correctly as tlpeter asked?

Also if the recording is to short it will not work.

I pressed 2 to record, 2 again after recording, and 3 to save. I then checked to make sure it was saved and it was there. Thanks

I tried making the test announcement fairly lengthy as I have had problems in the past just testing it with a short message and it wouldnt work.

The old favourite, have you rebooted since doing it? Shouldn't make a difference but it fixes many faults that feel like you are chasing your tail :)

Yep I tried the old reboot as I have found that to help many times too. Just not this time :)

Are you sure that the card has 4.2 prompts instead of 4.1 ?
It works on 4.1 so i think that is the problem

Good question, how would I double check? When I upgraded the cards promts I just went to Manager 6.2(4) / LVMSound / ENU highlighted all the files and hit Open. It transferred around 175 files in about about a minute. Said it was complete and when I go into a voicemail box and log in I get the new prompts for being able to Forward messages ect.. that arent on the old 4.1.
Thanks

safe to say it upgraded then :)
