First, we are using the IP Office in a very basic capacity, digital sets and POTS lines, Essential Edition, embedded VM, Auto-Attendant, etc. With 20 systems in the field, I have found the 9.0.6.0.979 software to very very stable for me in these configs. I Have received a few of the last systems in 9.1.0 and been able to downgrade them successfully. The one I received last week has me stumped! On initial boot-up and connection to Manager, the software made me change the default passwords, and I did so and recorded them. When I try to downgrade, it's no joy. I am able to select the files, enter my (new)system password, and the process starts, but all files fail initial check and the system does not downgrade. Any thoughts? It is acting the same with 2 different cards and 2 different chassis. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
DT

if you have the 9.0.6 manager software pull the sd card and recreate it at that software level

Thanks, Joe. Another new IPO adventure for me. Best way to learn is by doing. Here goes nothin'!

When I try to select Recreate SD card in the menu. the choices are grayed out. If I reformat it first, will it lose the serial number? Sorry for the dumb questions, but never had to do this before.

not sure I have only recreated the card maybe someone can answer this for you, not sure why create is greyed out

are you sure it is seeing the card in your sd card reader

My PC where the manager is installed can see it (Checking the MY COMPUTER folder). It see the name as IPO MU_LAW (E:)

yes that's correct, not sure then why recreate is greyed out

I'll keep digging. Thanks! Star for the help!

Check the security settings.

These have been changed.
You need to set http to unsecure-secure

This will now allow the upgrade downgrade.

If you have changed the password from default then you nee to use this one.

Check the working directory. If you are pointed at the wrong directory for the bin files needed to recreate the card recreate will be grayed out like that.

Snowman50, I checked this and it is set to unsecure+secure. I am positive of the new system password, and I have the directory set properly for the downgrade. When I initiate the upgrade wizard, it sees the proper files (9.0.6.0979) but still fails after initial check. I have tried this card with licenses installed and without, no difference. I have never had this occur before when downgrading a 9.1 card. I am scratching my head where the hair was that I pulled out! I have done this since they started shipping 9.1 cards to me from the vendor without problems. I have given up on the recreate function for now, as I can't make it see the files no matter what I try. Once again, all help is appreciated.

I just found a solution. I had to use an even higher version of manager (9.1.9) to perform the downgrade. All working properly now. Thanks again for all the responses. Guess mu 9.1.0 is corrupted or something.

I am not surprised 9.1.0 is garbage both manager and software on control unit. Thanks for posting the resolution.

THe manager I had was 9.1.0.2 and the card was 9.1.0.4. SHould have known better. At least now I can get it where I want it!

Well, fudge. Evidently my success with this adventure was just dumb luck. Another new system came in today, and I am having the same issue with it. Can someone please look at this trace and tell me what it means? If I need another trace with more info, any help with what filters to turn on would be greatly appreciated.

(Edit) Original problem: SD card cameloaded with 9.1.0.0 437, need to downgrade to 9.0.6.0 979.
Thanks,
DT

Just trying to wrap my head around your whole problem. The simplest solution is to recreate the SD card. Reformatting with Manager will not kill the SD card, Windows might, but I have never tried. I have never seen the recreate options grayed out, but my though at that point would be to reinstall Manager.
Having multiple copies of Manager on one PC can complicate things, but as noted by critchy verify the working directory matches the version of Manager you are using. The option to reformat and recreate are not grayed out for me even without an SD card present. If they are for you without an SD card plugged it that, to me, would point to problem with the Manager program. Try a reinstall using the 'Run As Administrator' If that doesn't work, try a different PC.

Thanks, budbyrd. Trying a different PC and downloading Admin CD 10.0 right now. Will post my results. But, even on this new pc, I have 9.0.6 Admin Suite installed, but I have it in a different directory. I was always careful to do that on the main pc as well. I do have one other one with no manager at all on it, so I will try that one, also.

To quote from the Manager help:

The source for the files copied to the SD card are the sub-folders of the \Memory Cards folder under Manager's Working Directory (normally C:\Program Files\Avaya\IPOffice\Manager). However, if the Working Directory is changed to a location without an appropriate set of \Memory Cards sub-folders, the required set of files will not be copied onto the SD card.

The most common reason is if you've installed the Manager from the Admin lite download. That doesn't include the firmware files for phones, etc and the files for recreating SD card, upgrading systems.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thanks, sizbut. I always download the full admin suite. Double checked anyway, it's pointed to the \Manager folder. Pulling what's left of my hair out! This has never happened before with this same procedure. Those cards came in at 9.1.0.0 build 2xx, these with 9.1.0.0 build 4xx.
