KornGeek: The engineering term for a narrow, flat moulding between two other mouldings is "Fillet"

Does that help?

Someone mentioned snicker somewhere above, but I've always known it to be snigger from a Brit perspective. That all changed when they decided to rebrand our Marathon peanut chocolate bars 'Snickers' to match the US equivalent - sacrilege! The same with our Opal Fruits which must now be referred to as 'Starburst'.

<Our White Pudding is a real Traditional Scottish concoction of Oatmeal, suet and onions and is the perfect addition to the cooked breakfast platter.
Are vegetarians allowed suet? />

It does?!!! Maybe that's why I found it repulsive!
No, veggies most certainly don't eat suet (when they know about it!). It's always amusing to ask people whether or not their mince pies are suitable for veggies - you get the strangest looks!

As I was out walking my dog this morning, I saw something in a field that closely resembled Fee's Christmas Pud from the pic above, even down to the sprig of green stuff on top!

Is "I wonder why anacoenosis is not acceptable in tek-tips?" a Rhetorical Question?

Did someone mention crumpets...Nooooo

It will start the great UK Pikelet / Crumpet debate. My Dad is a Brummie and mum is a Cockeney, this is the one thing known to start a arguement in the household....

Adding to the crumpet (food version) / pikelet debate, we used to call them pikelets where I come from (South Yorks). However, up here in Scotland the crumpets tend to be a lot thinner and diagonally larger than their English counterparts, unless bought in a supermarket.

Ken, They sound like "Scotch Pancakes" to me?

And don't get me started on so-called "Pancakes" for breakfast! With [B}WHAT[/b] kind of syrup?!!???

Okay... when are pancakes not for breakfast? Unless you're like my dad and want breakfast foods for breakfast lunch and dinner...

What kind of syrup are you referring to? Surely not maple syrup?

I love this thread... I'm learning quite about bit about places I've never been to... and learning to be very careful about what I order if I ever go to the UK...

Who said it isn't?

SilentAiche - My hat's off to you (again). Your joke on suet is far superior to my feeble attempt at expressing my opinion on suet.

Some thing are far beyond my control.

From what I can see, it looks like the thread has turned to crepe.

RE: Puddings

You know, my understanding of puddings has been corrected... when I read this story back in Junior High School (perhaps 7th or 8th grade), our teacher said that "Pudding-bree" meant the hot grease of pork sausages (puddings). I see now, that I have re-read it, that it just meant the water that boiled puddings were cooked in.

It's a great read, though. :)

'OkJohnCenturion' you make me laugh... "turned to crepe" [flush2]

I think I've forgotten this before.

Can you answer me a question then please?

What is a biscuit in the US?

Now just wait a cotton pickin' minute ...

According to Yosemite Sam, your biscuits are the part of you that touches the chair when you sit.

IE. After backing into a stove and seeing steam come up, he jumps around yelling "My biscuits are burning! My biscuits are burning!

Spanner in works time.....

Isn't a biscuit a piece of wood used in joinery? It's often used to help bind planks of wood together when glueing, such as when making a table top.....
