ContactStore Error starting MSDE server? 2

IP Office 406 w/ 4.2.(20) Vmail Pro 4.2.32. Trying to load ContactStore, run setup like normal to C:programfiles\Witness, runs through install and stops towards end then gives me "Error starting MSDE server". The Install Shield Wiz stays minanmized on task bar, have to end task, then get "1628: Failed to complete install"????? Any ideas...PC prob?????

What do I need to do to Install MSDE?????

What you need to do it read some docs or call a BP who knows the product.

CS needs MSDE but if it is not installed it will not work.

MSDE is the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Edition which can be downloaded and used free of charge from the Microsoft websites.
You should have the MSDE 2005 or 2008 edition.
MSDE must be installed prior to the CS install.

Thanks Intrigrant!! I used to install CS alot untill we started selling Chronicall, now not so often, actually never sell it now. This site had a prob w/ the VM Pro PC and am replacing it with another, that apperently needs MSDE. Have'nt come across that yet... Thanks all of you for your intrest in HELPING us...Thanks

I'll post what I find when I return to this issue!

You sounded like an end user :)
If your company is a SME expert then you don't.
If your support company is then you probably only need to pay them.

SMBS use there dist. TS untill they have to pass to Avaya Tier 3....which will now be charging...prepay by the HOUR!!! not supporting prior to 5.0 now.....pretty crapppppy if you ask me......Over the years we have sold MILLIONs of $$$ of Lucent / Avaya product line, Partner, Legand, Magix, IP Office ect. We've been THRILLED with the way IP Office has been since it came out...."Avaya" let's add some more "licenses", maybe bump-up the prices too, oh need another lic. for that too!!!!! lol...

We do get it to do some really cool stuff!!!!!that no other system will do...like network MICS w/ Vodavi XTS and IP Office all on the same NET and dial plan!!!! a little tuff to set-up but works great now!

There are two version of contact store.
The new version 7.8 only works on system with 5.0 software or higher. Which version did you install ?

Version 7.2 does not use Microsoft SQL anymore, so this error could not happen on that release.

Went to Avaya site IPO 4.2 and it has CS 7.2.09 under 4.2 software....Am I trying to use the wrong version of CS? What version would you suggest I try w/ 4.2?

7.2.09 is the correct version if using 4.2 software on the IPO. It uses MSDE, which it including when you run the installer.

It's working NOW!!!!

Really strange!!!!
Ran through CS install one more time...got the same thing when install came to "config MSDE 2000 ect" sits for a while then displays error....was logged into the PC through "logmein", should'nt make a diff., but I logged out of the PC while error was displayed. went back in a few minutes later and it displayed something diff this time, "error creating SQL database" cliked "OK" and "finish".
Went to add/remove prgms and CS was in there now! Tried to access through xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8888, no luck, went to add/remove prgms and uninstalled. Ran through install one more time and installed like normal and is working fine now, for the moment.....lol

strange, but working......thanks all of YOU for you intrest in HELPING us, THANKS!

The thing about MSDE is that after installation or removal you should restart the computer. You are not always prompted to do so.

It's people like you who generalize.
