I have a customer that needs the flash key on a Polycom to be able to bring in more callers. They say when they hit the flash key, nothing happens. Is there a special setting within the IPO that needs to be changed like flash timer or something?
It's much better to have a standard IP/Dig handset in the conference room as well and use that to build the conference, it's just a long drawn out process using an analogue phone
on the analog extension tab there you can adjust the flash settings but to be honest I have never had to change them from the default setting, also what type of trunks do they currently use?
yes if that's what their ars access code is, when they hit flash they should hear a dial tone so they would dial 9 and then the telephone number and then the conference button, I see this phone has a conference button so they should be pressing that in lieu of the flash button
so are you saying that because this is a ip office that it will not work in this manner? to be honest I used to do this same procedure on a CM platform but never on a ip office, for ip office I have always built a meet me conference bridge which works great
To conference with an analog device:
Make first call
Press Flash and when you get alternate dial tone:
dial your second number
when connected press flashhook
Press *47
This will add all parties on hold together
You can repeat the process up to a 64 party limit, but you need to use the code
It'll work. It is just a series of pressing the conference button to keep adding people. When finished adding people, press conference and then dial *47 to join everyone. That is a default sc, but you should verify it is in your system.
I agree with amriddle though that having a regular digital phone to initiate the call is easier. Then, just transfer the call to the polycom.
Yes I just saw that *47 is a system default conference add so thanks for the class on doing it this way, on the ip office I have always done it from a sip or h.323 phone using a meet me conference bridges, again thanks for the help as some day I may have to do it from an analog phone.
