What would you like to see from Nortel on the Norstar systems?

My personal wish list is:

1. ATA devices that have Caller ID outputs, by that I mean you can hook up a standard analog Caller ID telephone to an ata and see the originating ext or telephone number on the display or originating name. Caller ID outputs also include the FSK call waiting indicator embedded in them.

2. 73XX telephones that display two lines of incoming call data.

3. T-1 capability on the CICS, the cics software has the channels reserved out for t-1 but cannot put in the card. this would be useful for networking smaller offices.

4. be able to use the RAD for backing up voicemail as well as the phone system.

Who else has anything to add to this list?

I agree with all the above and maybe some better writers for the Guides. I'm talking mainly the PBX side. But as far as your number 1 request has anyone out there tried a VMI device. It does allow tones to pass though so maybe it will allow the ID tones. Just a thought.

I agree with all of the above too.

Add call-waiting ID to analog lines on my list.

Many residential users have this feature, but none of the Norstar KSU's or software support the feature unfortunately.

First on my wish list would be:
Under LINE programming have an 'OWNER' option for each individual line (forwarding would follow the owner on incoming calls) and the ability to set this 'OWNER' option to NONE - for those small offices that have lines ringing and appearing on all phones and they each have voicemail.
This would allow us to set the AA to answer after 5 rings and have all the phones Busy No Answer to Voice Mail.

Also Phantom DNs - real ones! - not Answer DNs or Hunt Group DNs

Please Nortel Claus, I've been a good boy this year [sadeyes]

All of the above are great for the wish list. I would also like to be able to print reports from NRU much like the old Norstar Manager had. Great for doing site audits remotely.

Separate inputs for Background music and MOH.

Bring back the M7310 sets in an updated shell to match the T-series sets. Call it the T7310.

MarvO said it

1. Get rid of the T7406
2. Bring back the companion
3. Allow pool code in the auto dial string (F*1)
4. More AUX Ringer Ports
5. Major reduction in size of KSU (Cards not modules).
6. Allow more capabilites to the Hunt Group DN's.
7. Lights in behind the LCD's on the sets.
8. Auto answer (set level)
9. Relay ports (instead of using C.O. port and xtra module)
10.2 more page ports (F621 calls port 1, F622 calls port 2 F623 port 3)saves need for Z module and amplifier for smaller business(use self amp horn each port)
11. Another model of Door Phone (one with key pad)
12. Have wires come from bottom of Call Pilots
13. Backup of Call Pilot without shutdown.
13. More powerfull vmail system (able to change Meridian Mary's Promts to your own, mini CCR tree from personal mailboxes and more)
14. Get rid of the T7406 (but forever this time)

Strongly agree's with separte MOH and BK Music ports and two line call data.

Cheers....from a greedy pig!

A 911 alarm without having a PRI. When a user dials 911, an alarm goes out to the alarm set, "Ext 231" (or name of set) has dialed 911". I wish!!!!!!!

Curly your wish 3 have you tried Feat *1 +I/C + pool code + ph number ok

Hello,
My most sought after wish would be the ability to backup the programming on the Flash VM. I'm with jerryreeve on that one.
Thanks,
Dmac,

OK Mr. Nortel Clause, LISTEN UP HERE!!

BRING BACK COMPANION!!!!!
An I want the transfer to voice mail F986 to be able to use an autodial button,
an I want to have hospitality features like the M1 PMS system,
an I want COMPANION!!!! OK??
an I want the static on a CO analog line to go away forever,
an I want the T7406 to work like the Engenius 490 long range 4line phone,
an I want a fast rad with a NIC,
an I want a faster processor in the KSU,
an I want a dial by name 'look up directory' or scroll through directory for the speed dials,
an I want a better phone set than those truly pathetic T series phones, say a Norstar version of the 3900 series for M1... after all the 2616s looked much like an Mseries phone in concept,
an I want COMPANION BACK!!! But it has to work like engenius,
an I want when comapanion does come back, the external antenna to be FULL DUPLEX OK? GOT THAT??
an I want a one button to be able to combine internal autodial and voice call,
an I want paper manuals back,
an I want a single remote access for both the ksu and voice mail.

Gee, I think that's it..
Oh. One more thing. PUT BLOODY ENGLISH BACK ON THE RLS, HOLD AND FEATURE BUTTONS!!!!! If I have to explain one more time about how the little satelite button is the feature access button I'M GONNA THROW UP!

Best of the Mid Winter season all,
PhM

i have a couple customers who'd like to have BGM in their headset instead of over the phone... Insurance agent, 10 agents in a room, all want the radio, supervisors and idle agents dont want to hear the radio, nor do the agents on a call want the customer to hear the radio from a set beside her(or him)...

make companion better - dont let motorola do it!
put the battery contacts at the hinge point! so if the locking clasp gets worn a little, it doesnt drop calls...
make it work off ordinary station ports - so it can be used on CICS too...
let there be no feature restrictions - like voice call from companion.
YES BACKLIT DISPLAYS!
man i hope they read this list we make!

Nortar lite Norstar brite first Norstar i see tonite i wish i may i wish i mite get a visual of the pri and d channels just like the option switch, smaller harware as in ksu, nams, trunk, and station modules its all air space and everything else that was listed oh and i hope a company that knows how to run a telecommunications company buys us.

My Wish,

Make Nortel CICS one trunk bay bigger. Seems everyone uses 10 to 12 lines commonly, not 4 to 8. One more trunk bay please. Or like someone said earlier able to take T1. The usage ratio sucks, should be 12 trunks to possible 24 stations.

Fix call forwarding issues, no need to list there is at least one post about that everyday.

T7406 good idea, needs alot of work.

Make backup memory a little more reliable. Maybe a backup card slot. I hate powering down. Yeah I know there's backup tools, but something a customer could do themselves in case of emergency.

Put (feature) back on the feature key. That symbol is queer. It's kind of like when Prince changed his name to that symbol, always have to explain what button your talking about.

Put a emergency analog RJ-ll port that is hard wired through the cabinet to line , that way when the system loses power an analog phone can get them by. Yeah I know theres a work around, and T1 issues arise with trunking order. This is a wish list though, and I'm sure Nortel Santa has an engineering department to figure it out.

Thats all for now. Have a good holiday, and new year everyone.

I would like to have the conference expanded.
Account codes.
Config Password De-bugger.
Multiple mailboxes for one phone.
If we have to keep the T7316 phones, add a shift key.
Bring back paper manuals.
Name length the same on phone and voicemail.
Allow certain features to be programmed on a button with additional info.
That's all i can think of right now.
Happy Holidays
Gabriel

I would like the ability to use the last two fiber expansion ports that are reserved for Companion hardware on an XC system to add station modules on a system that is fully built-out. A Nortel marketing rep once said this was coming in the 6.0 or 6.1 release, but it didn't happen.

also a BGM port instead of piggybacking off of the MOH port, Advertisment on hold is killing the possibility of using BGM in most environments.

The ability to turn off the recording announcement and tones. the local cop shop wants to use record but not announce the recording.

another wish from me is that we could get this list to nortel so they could see what the techs (the prople who work with the system most) would like to see

Your wish has been granted!

HER ARE MY TOP 10:

ATA3 ADAPTER: an ata that passes the caller id information to a capable analog telephone. why cant or wont they do this?

DISA THAT WORKS: its name promises remote service access but it is way too limited. Why cant you do a voice call through disa? Why cant you pick up a parked call on disa? Why doesn’t the smdr print the entire disa cos code instead of ‘hiding’ the last 3 digits?

INSTALLED FORCED ACCOUNT CODE: being able to force the user to use an account code without having to install third party software.

INTEGRATED INTERNAL AUTODIAL: An internal autodial button that works on both blind transfer and voice mail transfer calls.

HUNT GROUP THAT QUES W/ MUSIC: why queue a call w/ continuous ringing? thatz just stupid.

MORE THEN 4 TABLES ON A NAM: if you can have 999 mailboxes, why can’t you have more then 4 tables?

SIMPLIFIED CICS AUTO ANSWER: that ccr, auto answer, show greeting, user mode, system mode, greeting a thru f, bus open, business closed, password thing is a mess.

MICS & CICS INTERGRATION: why can you integrate an meridian w/ a mics but you can integrate a mics w/ a cics?.

CALL PILOT W/ NO PASSWORD OPTION: a voice mail system w/ no password required for messages in hospitality installs.

PAPER MANUELS: enough said.

nortel might make some money if theyd listen to us:)

New Wish:

More than 4 ring patterns please, two of the present rings are so annoying that almost no one will use them unless forced.
