Hi

We have a client with a 3300 running MCD5.0 SP2
They also have CCM version 5.8 and Intelligent Queue
They wish to upgrade to Version 6 - primarily because this supports different operating systems and Microsoft software that they wish to upgrade to.
My query relates to how / what we upgrade.
The process to upgrade from CCM5.8 to 6 looks relatively standard and straightforward.

My primary concerns are with the IQ upgrade to Visual Workflow Manager.
The eng docs mention to migrate from IQ ROuting to IVR Routing and IQ to Visual Workflow Manager using the migration wizard.
Do we need to complete both the above migrations? Whats the different between IQ Routing and IVR routing upgrade and the IQ to VWF upgrade? Is this 2 seperate processes?

I can see The following items can be migrated:
l Message plans
l Music on Hold playlists
l ANI conditions via .csv export
l DNIS conditions via .csv export
l Queue conditions via .csv export
l Schedule conditions via .csv export
l Redirection conditions via .csv export
The following items can not be migrated:
l Call flows
l Subroutines
l Management plans
1 Call Back Plans

Has anyone ever done this?
How did the procedure go, did you run into any difficulties, any advise?
The site in question is pretty complex and the configuration is detailled, they have alot of configuration relating to items that cannot be migrated - I guess these will need re-programming somehow from scratch?
If anyone can share any docs that would be appreciated as I am struggling to find any detailled "rubber stamped" info / guidelines on MoL and Prairfyre website

Thanks in advance

Never done it but was told that moving to Release 6 on IQ ( where IQ becomes part of CCM ) is basically installing from scratch. I am curious how you make out. Keep us posted.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Please do keep us up to date I am wondering the exact same thing. I have an upgrade coming up in a couple of months and would love to know.
One thing that I do know is that on the PBX the original app server ports cannot be used, you have to create the new ones as a trusted device (I believe a 5220).

Thanks,

I spoke with Mitel yesterday, the bottom line is VWM is a completely different product and for this reason the migration process is not as seemless as one would hope.
The point Mitel re-iterated was the best practice was to prepare a completely new server (must be 64 bit if you are planning to run CIS and VWM -- I dont think it states this in the release notes) and either start from scratch or load this to be identical to the existing setup and then upgrade / migrate. Prairfyre will allow duplicate licencing for this purpose.
Once the server is prepared we can test using a few dummy ports - as per alpha manns comments the IQ doesnt use app server ports anymore, you can therefore effictively get both systems up and running side by side - if all fails you can roll back.
I found the following docs to be useful from MoL

bulletin PA20110363
Engineering Guidelines
bulletin 12-5127-00105

Think there is side benefit to using trusted device becuase it doesn't consume licenses ( or am I wrong again ).

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Another item to check - does the customer have any pro-services / integration with any CRM or alike?
If so checks need to be made with whoever implemented this to ensure it will continue to function as required on the new software.

I have done a few of these now ranging from 8 ports up to 30 ports and 100 paths

Its a nightmare to convert to VWM from IQ you are best running both side by side and cut over at a time when the customer allows

1 major problem is VWM is the small size of the window in YSE

i have just completed a VWM install and the customer had in total over 35 DNIS options and the call flow got so large that its its now very hard to see it on a laptop or desk top screen

it would be great if mitel could change this

CCNA,CCNP,CCVP
HP AIS
Full Mitel

Its not Mitel its Prairie Fyre. Maybe you could post a comment on their web site.
