Looking for suggestions on how to withhold outbound caller ID on the IP Office. Tried using the 'W' tag, and the extension is being put into the calling party number field. I know on Definitys, there is a feature code that marks the call as private so it reads as unknown on most caller ID displays. Any ideas on how to do the same with IP Office?

W – Set flag in packet to withhold outgoing Caller ID (operation is PSTN network dependent.

S - Place the digits following the "S" into the outgoing call's Calling Number field.

You must use the W in your shortcode.

Hmmm, that's what I had in there, and the extension still got passes through. Wonder if its a bug? Right now I'm just masking with Ns0000000000 to put out a ten-digit numbers, hopefully accepted by all carriers. This is a per call/choice setup to block, otherwise I'd have the TelCo mask everything as a private call.

It sounds more like a problem for your line provider
what versions of firmware are you using & what line type?

R3.0(44) on a PRI, w/NI2, ESF, and B8ZS. I had the TelCo trap a call from site to my phone, and we both saw the extension coming out.

Bellsouth tells me that unless a valid DID(talking PRI here) is in their Screening Tables then any external call will be tagged with the BTN number. Usually the first DID.

We are having the same problem with a different carrier so it cannot be the carrier that is causing the problem. We are on V3.0(59) but it was also happening previously. We have the 'NW' in the shortcode and it does block the telephone number from being sent but in its place it sends out the extension as the caller ID - so the receiver of the call sees the extension of the person calling them rather then a phone number. We want nothing to be sent or we want to block the number so that no number shows up on the receivers caller id - isn't this possible??

Good to know I'm not the only guy with the exact same problem. I'm on 3.0(44) BTW. This is not a line provider issue, as these numbers are coming through and being passed without interference by the carrier as seen in a line trap.

I have just read everything, and know that someone has already kind of said this but I put this shortcode in last Friday and it worked.
Shortcode:?
Telephone No: .w
line grp ID: 0
Feature: Dial

I hope this helps

I have the exact sam problem - when blocking outgoing caller id with a 'W', it starts sending out the extension number instead.

You have to check your software version, i now that in some 2.1 versions the W doesn,t work.

Don,t have the problem in 3.1(29) sorry
If i put in the W than i get witheld.

big70, this seems to be dependent on the carrier. As I have seen, sometimes it works, sometimes it spits the extension number.
