Hello All,

I have a computer that will not boot completly into windows. I tried safe mode as well, with no luck. When booting up it lists about 8 different .dll file errors, stating they cannot be found or have been corrupted. Then it just stays locked on the background screen with no icons showing. All my friend needs is his pics off the cpu. How can I recover them. Thanks in advance.

The easiest way is to attempt a repair installation of XP. You can also put the drive in another PC as a slave, and recover them with the OS installed on that PC

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Try running ChkDsk /r from the Recovery Console.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched. This however may be your easiest option?
