I have a BCM450 rel 1. I am going to install an expansion cabinet along with a needed MBM. I have all the needed equip along with the Key Code to enable the port. My question is....May I install the expansion, data cable between. Also I will need to configure the MBM prior to installing the MBM and powering it up...
What I need to know is can I leave power on the main cabinet, do the config, install the MBM and then power up the expansion?...Or do I need to remove power from the Main before installing the 256 cable?

Thanks so much...Kurt68

You need to apply the keycode first. There shouldn't be a need to power down the BCM main unit, but you should have all the modules plugged in before you power up the expansion cabinet. Check in the BCM Element Manager that the main unit sees the expansion cabinet OK.

Also the Ethernet cable between the main and expansion has to be a particular type as standard ones won't work. I think they are screened versions about one or two meters long.

Thanks Firebird...Agreed on everything you said! I was hoping I would not have to take the Main down to apply power to the expansion.
