BCM 400 4.0 - Can't Connect Via Element Manager 1

I've searched and searched but can't find a duplicate problem with anyone else.. So looking to see if anyone has encountered this.

I have a BCM 400 4.0 that I can not connect via Element Manager.

I can ping the IP, as well as get to web page interface.

I've tried on both Google Chrome as well as Internet Explorer.

I've tried un-installing Java and loading an older version.

I've tried un-installing Element Manager and installing it right off of this BCM itself - As well as downloading it again off a BCM 50 R6 I have.

I've tried 3 different hard drives and 3 different base function trays.

Green lights are all solid green except the alarm light which is solid red.

I have another BCM 400 4.0 that I can access just fine. Which I am going to try booting up and make sure I can still access just fine after un-installing and re-installing the above mentioned items.

Any suggestions??

Thanks for your help.

It should be noted that I could access the unit just a couple weeks ago.

What is the error?
Have you tried a laptop on the OAM port? (or Network port if you were using OAM)
Have you checked the alarms?
Can you see the system version in EM before you click connect? could be RPM database corruption...not good.
Power Supply is a thought, needs to be clean power.

normally when you can not login by element manager with ip address, login/pass correct, the problem is software corruption.
so, you could reimage the BCM.
this equipment is very sensitive to voltage variations.
you must have a good electrical installation on the site.

This is on my test bench so I know voltage is good.. I check lots of BCMs here. I could try a power supply.. I just think it should be okay since the unit fully boots up and I can access the web page. I have spares I can try though.

I can not access anything via the Element Manager. It just gives me the error message that it can not connect. It is not the error message that the username and password is incorrect. Therefore I am unable to check the alarms.

I have tried 3 different hard drives. If the drive was bad.. Would I get solid green lights?

Probably wont matter but can check alarms via Telset programming

EM is currently at 62.0.3.

I did try un-installing it and re-installing it directly off of the BCM 400 4.0 - but I am not sure what version that was.

Latest is 62.0.5

Still to answer:
-Have you tried a laptop on the OAM port? (or Network port if you were using OAM)
-Can you see the system version in EM before you click connect? could be RPM database corruption...not good.

I am connected direct to the LAN 2 port. 10.10.11.1.

Let me boot it back up and check if I can see the system version.

OAM default IP is 10.10.11.1
Isn't the LAN port something like 10.10.10.11?

We're talking a BCM 400 here.. not a BCM 450. There is no OAM port. LAN 1 is 10.10.10.1 & LAN 2 is 10.10.11.1

So I plugged it in and let it run for a couple hours before even attempting to connect and just sat down with it and can log in.

One thing I did was update the EM to 62.0.5

The critical alarm it is throwing is "Service Manager - Keycode Service (cfsserver) has stopped unexpectedly. This will affect the ability to enter any new keycodes. Service Manager is attempting to restart the service."

I am going to attempt to load the keycodes now. I will also try shutting it down and powering it back up to see if I can still log-in.

I was unable to load the keycode.. I kept getting the error that the dialog box could not open. So I just did a reboot and now I am back to not being able to log in.

As an update to that critical error, it popped up several times, immediately followed by an information alarm that the cfsserver was successfully restored.

I forgot that sorry.

Strange issue since you have tries 3 or 4 drives now.

Did you use a 4.0 image on these drives or did they come with one already?

Have you tried another Power Supply?

This is all I could find which is probably the exact same you did:

BCM10117 Service Manager

Service Manager - Keycode Service (cfsserver) has stopped unexpectedly and could not be restarted by service manager. This will affect the ability to enter any new keycodes.

Reboot system at earliest convenience to restore service. If problem still exists, perform a Level 2 (Software) reset and re-apply the latest System SU.

The cfsserver file is very important. My advice is to see if you can access the BCM 400 via a SSH program such as PuTTY etc. Although access won't be available unless you know the passcode. However, you should see a login screen.

Has the system had any recent power outages etc?.

But why same issue on all drives?

I think a power supply is the next step.

I am also going to try PEC cards.. I found an old thread about PEC cards causing issues so I figure it's worth a shot.

As far as the hard drives.. I've tried 2 different images. Both act the same. One is my master that I use all the time and it has worked fine on other units.

I'll also try the putty connection today.

Oh and no recent power outages. It has only been on my test bench. Was working fine a few weeks ago though.
