Has anyone had any luck connecting a V2000 page controller to an IP office and if so what was best way using a trunk port off ip office or an analog extension as page port? Is there documentation that someone can share? Thanks

John

Can't say I have used the V-2000. If you are using an analog extension port as a page port you will need a 600 ohm isolation transformer like the Valcom VMT-2. Trunk port access may be problematic if it doesn't put out enough voltage for the IPO to recognize it. Use a volt meter and see if it uses 24 or 48 volts. 24V may not work.

Is there a step by step guide to program and connect using the trunk port on IP office?

We prefer to use the transformer. I have had various Valcom units fail with the persistent voltage that the IPO uses to test for the 600 ohm load.
For the trunk programming the most important part would be assigning it unique out going trunk group. You can either add a line appearance to a button or a short code that accesses the trunks line group.

To clarify further we have a V2000 an IP office server edition with 2 V500 expansion chassis and 20 other expansions. Very large system. I tried using an analog trunk off of the v500 chassis, created a short code to access the trunk group. Rebooted and dial 74 but nothing. I then tried using analog extension programmed as page port with a VMT-2 between analog port and valcom V2000, I rebooted system and get call rejected when dialing the extension.

Is there something else I need to do? I have had valcom page controllers working before on IPO just not on a system this complex.

On the V2000
If you use a loop start line the battery feed switch on the Valcom is ON. Hook up to a CO port on the IPO.
If you are using a analogue port. Set the port in IPO as a paging speaker. Connect to the Valcom. Set the battery feed switch to Off. Polarity matters. No need for VMT-2.

Step 1:
Create a line group dedicated to the paging trunk port.
Go into the analog line properties page.
Change the line type to loop start (no ICLID).
Make the incoming and outgoing group value something unique like 99.
As long as these group values are not being used by another line, you will be fine. Also make sure this line is set to active.

Step 2: Create a short code –choose any available one such as *80 (your system may differ). Telephone number field is ‘.‘(just put in the period, not the single quote marks) and the line group ID is going to be what you set in Step 1. In our case, it is 99. The feature will be dial.

Short Code: *80
Telephone Number: . (just a period)
Group ID Number: 99

Step 3: Save your changes. Since you probably made changes to the line in Step 1,this will require a system reboot.
You should now be able to dial *80 from any phone and be connected to your paging system.
