We are a business that took over which has a AT&T 206E and a Avaya 206E modules I was just wondering does it have voice mail? I called the number to the line and after awhile it seems to have a fax sound that answers?

I assume it has caller ID because the phone number calling shows up on the phone however no name.. the phones are the Avaya 18D

I just want to know if it does not have voice mail does it come with a module that offers it?

This is on the modules

AT&T 206E R3.1
Avaya 206E 4.0

Another expansion module for the Partner ACS is the 012E which will support 0 new telephone lines and 12 new extensions...hence "012E". [smile]

Before you power down an old system Partner "baby" system like this one, make sure you know all the settings. If the processor has the original backup battery in it, it's probably not holding a charge anymore. If it isn't, all the settings will be lost once power is turned off to the system.

So wait.. so I need both the ACS R6 and the partner Vm system? I don't think I ever posted a picture but these don't sit on a carrier but screwed onto each other (long screws) onto a wooden wall.

I need to order the stuff because they want to have it running before the new year.

So I get the ACS R6 with the PC card so what I'm getting confused at (looking at the first post) both modules installed right now are 206E so I would need the ACS R6 plus another 206E or what?

myself2-pause-3 is a Partner Basic R4.0

An ACS R6 has 3 lines and 8 extensions. How many lines and how many extensions do you need, and what type of voicemail have you settled on? If you need more lines or extensions, you need a carrier and an expansion module (don't bother trying to reuse the 206 modules, they already have static on them), and if you settled on Partner Messaging (vs. Partner Voice Messaging PC Card) you need the carrier for that as well.

Consider the following hardware configuration:

1) 1 Partner ACS 5-module carrier.
2) 1 Partner ACS R6 processor.
3) 1 Partner ACS 308EC expansion module.
4) 1 Avaya Partner Messaging R7 voicemail module.
5) 1 Avaya 4 or 6 port voicemail license.

The above would support up to 6 telephone lines, 16 extensions and offer an auto attendant/voicemail system that would do just about anything a small to medium sized business would need...and...on top of that...allow for the possibility of future expansion. [smile]

Since I came in with the system not in great shape I just know of 3 areas for extensions but it's wired for more then that but I don't know all the jack locations

As far as the lines it seems like someone pulled two wires off (yellow & black) I think those colors are for a second line? I have to look at the phone bill again but I think it might be for 2 lines or single now.

What I have now is a 2 slot carrier for what's connected now.

I was going to go with the ACS R6 with a PC card voice mail.

Ok I just need one then.. I have 7 extensions and 4 lines but only 1 line works (someone disconnected or pulled out the black and yellow wires for the terminal block)

So the ACS R6 plus the Partner Voice Messaging PC Card is all I would need

The ACS R6 shipped as well as the PC mail card should be here on Tuesday

thanks this should be helpful in getting started

I already have my first setback.. the 2 slot carrier I had for the old system does not fit the R6 the slot is much longer then the old one.

I wished I knew that so I could of included it in my order..

Wait I just thought about it since I'm only just using the ACS R6 I don't need it.. however I was messing with it and I checked it today and it says backup failed I don't have the card for it.. is it really needed? I think the battery backup holds the settings for 45 days?

I would add one. There are two versions. One is a regular backup/restore while the other adds remote dialup access for programming. The remote access function works poorly however. [sad]

Ok I have one problem here.. when I call the line it rings once and a voice message says the party is not available

What settings do I change so it at least rings 4 times then goes to voice mail?

Download, if you haven't already done so, a copy of the "Partner Voice Messaging PC Card Release 3 Installation and Programming" guide.

A list of major programming features appears on page #8. [smile]

Is that this one right here?

For some reason it's still only doing one quick ring then it goes onto saying the party could not answer the call.

when i type in the number say like #506 and then 1 then 1 again the phone display says VMS Hunt Delay D 1 so how do I have the setting save?
