3300 CXi R4.2
1 x 3300 Small Business - CXi Base Pkg
6 x MCD: 1 Application Connection License
Liceneced offline originally.

Customer has purchased a new CXi with new app record.(16 user)

In the reassign product section the 6 additional users on the old app record are "greyed out" and cannot be transfered to the new record.

I have tried upgrading the old box from 4 .2 to 5.0 and re-synching the licences online but got a "hardware installer not installed correctly".

Any help would be appreciated.

More than likely the previous licenses were downloaded and manually activated.

If so, they cannot be moved until/unless they are licensed online

You will need to succeed on an online upgrade.

I've never seen a failure as you describe.

I attempted the upgrade by fitting a spare disk with Rel 5 already installed into the old box, updating the AMC to Rel 5 and then synching the licences.
The licences appeared but would not save and I got a message something like "hardware identifier not installed correctly or incorrect"
Then tried licensing using the SI tool (full install) but licence only. This came back successful but would not let the licences be allocated to the system.
Do you think reseting the hardware ID would resolve. ?

That is not how you upgrade

Using the SI tool to simply resync the licenses (no Upgrade) will not change anything

Resetting the Hardware ID will not change anything (Unless you replace the HW ID with a different one)

Maybe the question at this point should be...Why did you purchase a new base license?

It is a simple matter to reassign the existing licensing to the new unit.

problems like this can be solved with the assistance of the amc support team as well.

I have had issues like this that were simply solved by them permoning the license migration for me

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Somethings are tied to bundles and can't be reassigned to other ARIDs

Is your intention to just replace the Hardware?

talk to amc support that is almost exactly the scenario that i had

customer had a cxII and a virtual MAS
fire in data rack ( ups at the bottom fire went up)
Physical CX burnt and crispy , virtual mas - can be rebuilt

- we sold them a new base pack and new controller , AMC migrated the connection licenses for the AWV from the old arid to the new
