    cmyk colors

Bingo bango - same issue I had after completing a six-month project. While I can't correct the issue for you, I can testify officially to Corel's total inability to consistently display colours - I now have a true-match monitor for embroidery that shows the exact colour of what I am physically...

    Opinions & feedback?

Newsgroups? I...am out of the loop. How do I get there, what do I do? Is there a handshake? I'm not very good with handshakes.

    Problem with CorelDraw 11

Just a thought - this type of thing used to happen to me when I had 400+ fonts installed. Once I shaved it down to 275-ish, text commands became useable again. But this is only likely if one computer has way more fonts loaded on it for some reason.

    Opinions & feedback?

Ha hah - I love reading your posts, javabear. Makes me smile. Okay folks (I don't know who really cares...) - I have basically finished the piece originally posted above. Here is the link; it's on my 'free' portfolio site. http://www.artwanted.com/imageview.cfm?ID=204384 Again, it's all mesh...

    Opinions & feedback?

LOL - well, then. Point taken - you did breathe during your rant, yes? Can you recommend the memory tester that you used? Oh, and I have discovered an instant disruption when I try to use any video program at the same time as Corel ('specially Win Media player). Query: Can I pump my computer...

Unexplained sudden export problems - why me?

I've been successfully exporting cdr files to both psd and jpeg formats since I've had Corel. Now when I try to export, the default scaling properties are as follows: Width: 6.08903 inches - 67% Height: 8.something inches - 38% Resolution: 1561 dpi (wtf?) "Maintain Original Size" is checked...

    Opinions & feedback?

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I have the entire image almost entirely done now & will update it shortly to the same above link. And Javabear, you're right - only the mesh-filled areas were actually 'done'. The solid-filled shapes hadn't been touched yet. As a side note, while I'm really...

    Opinions & feedback?

Hey all - here's my current work in progress. Almost every filled object is mesh filled (the primary point of the exercise). Do you guys like this style, or does it seem like I'd be better just trying this type of colouring in Photoshop or Paint? Let me know what you think - my entire comic book...

Fit a vector image to a path

In Corel I would shrink the image (text) to the width of the line. Then using the putty tool (interactive envelope tool) I would stretch it into place along the curve. But to perfectly honest, unless I didn't have access to the original font used, I would simply retype it as text, then convert...

    Exporting in CD12 gives border??

Yeah, this happens to me when I've forgotten to remove a white or unfilled rectangle in the image. It still counts as an object in the export, even though you may forget it's still there. So an unfilled rectangle will print, and its contents where otherwise not specified become white. That'd be...

    Text direction formating

That's...a new one. I never thought of this before. If you speak arabic, you may have better luck finding someone who has had the same issue in, say, Photoshop or some such (I would think they're all similar in this regard). There is a way to set up Windows for arabic as a default font, which...

    Photoshop vs Corel DRAW

Photoshop = bitmap = for PHOTOS. CorelDRAW= vector = for DRAWING. Simple as that. I would never use Photoshop for anything other than photos and photo-type work; I hate bitmaps. (I'd rather import a bitmap into Corel and type over it there than even use fonts in Photoshop). No one gets a job...

CorelDraw 11 Freezes when you select print

You're at the troubleshooting stage - I doubt we'll be able to do anything more for you. 1) Is Corel the only program that has this issue? (ie: can you print both from the menu and from the preview in programs like Word, Photoshop, Paint, Notepad, etc?) - This will tell you if it's a Corel or...

Rotating and Sizing on own axis

Select the objects you want to rotate using shift+click. Once they're all selected, carefully click once more one one object - if done correctly, the objects will convert to the rotate handles instead of the selection handles. Then when you rotate one, they will all rotate at the same rate. The...

RGB to CMYK without my permission?

It's a mystery all right. It's a standard .cdr file. All the colours are from a hand-created rgb palette I use, right down to hand-named colours. There are cmyk bitmaps littered throughout as drop shadows, but no source bitmaps (nothing that had to be imported). I checked and then reset every...

RGB to CMYK without my permission?

I think I'm screwed here - the file I spent four months on in rgb has somehow been converted to cmyk without any action on my part. Now it quite naturally looks like complete crap and I'm about to shoot my computer. Can anybody help me with this? Here's what I can give in steps leading up to...

Mark are and select ALL object in that area?

Drag your bounding rectangle from outside of the entire drawing area (so you intially catch nothing), and drag it across - or down - to encompass the building and whatever else happens to be in the way. Holding shift, do roughly the same rectangle, going to the edge of the building. Corel will...

    corel in os x

http://forums.macosxhints.com/ has several open threads on this question, as I assume somewhere on this site someone knows as well. The short answer is "yes", but you'd better know how to use you Mac or you'll likely spend more time adjusting and Corel than it's worth.

    Cutting out background

I use the eraser tool in COREL for most bitmap trimming. It has the same mathematical effect as Photopaint's mask and cutout. It takes me no longer or shorter to do it this way than in Paint; but I hate flipping between applications on my computer, so I'd likely do it this way regardless.

    Feathered Edges

Got it - I couldn't get this issue out my head, so I figured out a decent way to do it in Draw. This still only applies to vectors, though, and as both Brushman and Javabear said, it's much easier to do this in Photopaint, but... Make your shape (or group). Duplicate them and shrink it - I do...
