Hello,
I have a farely strange problem: whenever I want to export a graphic to, say, a BMP file I get a small border around my graphic. Open the pic in the Windows viewer in slide show mode and it doesn't show. Zoom in using the viewer I can see just a little bit of this border and using the pic as desktop image it's also there. I have no idea why it keeps on doing this. Exporting an image without using the anti-aliasing option makes the border disappear though. But I can't use this image because of the bad quality offcourse. Different file types give the same result (like jpeg).
Does anyone know what causes this border?
thanx a lot!

it's not a "border," it's just an artifact of the anti-aliasing process. Is the image in question a vector object to begin with? If so, you could be going about it in a different way with better results (but you neglected to say what version you're using). You can always take it back into Photopaint to clean it up.

oops, my mistake, you mentioned version in the subject line, not the body (usually better to mention important info like that in the body of the message). So, is this info a vector image to start with?

Yeah, this happens to me when I've forgotten to remove a white or unfilled rectangle in the image. It still counts as an object in the export, even though you may forget it's still there. So an unfilled rectangle will print, and its contents where otherwise not specified become white.
That'd be me guess.

To all the replies: thnx a lot! The given info is really helpful, and you are right: I've used a rectangle to set a background for easy manipulation of colour, gradient and so on. So, indeed a vector object. I guess to make an image you'll always have to get rid of this white (or coloured) line using an image editing prog like phtpaint.
Thanks javabearSTL and impulselondon, nice to see that people on the net help each other.

Well, there are other, better ways to export out your image depending on what you're wanting to do... i.e., what is the final destination? how are you going to use the file? Is this for web use or for print use? I can't imagine using the BMP file for much of anything these days - why that format instead of one of the more flexible bitmap formats?

Well, I kind of tried to make an image but not especially for some purpose but I think I will use it for web content in the future. I used to use CD 10 to make images for websites but I can't remember it gave this problem with exporting. I used exporting to .jpg files and occasionally to .gif (transparency). But what kind of more flexible formats would you use?

well, it would depend on a) what the original file consisted of (are these all vector elements?) and b) what the final destination would be... but usually I would use the CPT format.
