NT to 2k by moving data from nt machine to 2k machine

First, we are a little late doing this, I know. We are going to get a new W2k server and want to move our PDC information from the old NT 4 to this new W2k to become our DC. Also, our old NT 4 is our Exchange 5.5 server and we want to move all the e-mail users and e-mails to this new server...

Internal Network cannot Resolve to ISP DNS Server

We have our workstations, servers setup with our internal UNIX server as the first DNS server and our ISP's external DNS server as our second DNS server within Microsoft DNS Server Search Order. NSlookup will only search our internal server and does not try to resolve to our ISP server...

    2000 server in nt4 Domain

So, the best thing to do is to setup the W2k server as a DC and configure the NT4 servers for the W2k domain? What about the login script.. Can you setup an NT4 domain to share a drive on the W2k server? Thanks, Vince

    2000 server in nt4 Domain

I have been told that you can do this. We are actually in the process of doing this same thing until we upgrade. I am curious to see what information comes from this request. Good luck. I will keep in touch as I work through this. Thanks, Vince

Can W2K Server perform as a BDC to NT 4.0 Domain?

Well, we want to go on and set this one up with Windows 2000. We bought license upgrades for our current NT 4.0 and it's BDCs. I figure we could set it up as a stand alone 2K Server, then change it to a BDC after we upgrade the NT 4.0. I appreciate the quick answer though. THANKS ALOT...

Can W2K Server perform as a BDC to NT 4.0 Domain?

We are running NT 4.0 and want to setup W2k server as a Disaster Recovery for our domain. Can it be setup as a BDC? Any ideas as to whether we should do this or set it up another way to perform as a Disaster Recovery system? Thanks, Vince

    Exchange Agent for Exchange 2000

Is your Arcserve Manager on a different server? If so, you may need to install the client Agent on your Exchange Server as well. Thanks, Vince

Are you saying disable it from the backup job, from the Exchange Server, from the ARCSERVE Server, two of the three, or ALL three? Thanks, Vince

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

I went ahead and verified that I didn't have any mailboxes with the same first three letters. Good to go. Yes. I have InoculateIT running on a server and I am using it on the Exchange Server. I am using version 4.53. I checked the thread and you're right. I forgot to post that. Thanks...

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

OK. It didn't work. Same e8602 as always. I put the qo06202 patch that was originally suggested. Once I do that, I get a security error in the backup tree when I try to access the Exchange Brick Level. I tried accessing it through the Agent tree and the actual domain. It says invalid user...

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

Well, I installed the LO94975 patch, then I tried to install the qo06202 patch. It didn't work. So, I tried to install JUST the LO94975 patch. It worked. I was able to open up the Exchange brick level and see my mailboxes. I setup the backup to run tonight. I will find out if it works...

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

I just finished re-booting my system and removed the Exchange backup. I was going to add it back in, but now the A2k administrator hangs when I try to look at the mailboxes in the tree. I was going to load the LO94975 patch. -Read/write error during brick-level backup Thanks, Vince

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

ARCserveGuru, it is the same as the first time: [E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME= Individual Mailboxes\*****\Calendar, EC= Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)]. Yes, we are running Inoculate 4.53. Duran, I will definitely try that out...

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

Well, it's about 4:30 Central and I just checked my exchange backup. It's still running, but the last few mailboxes have the original E8602 BACKUP AGENT ERROR. Back to the drawing board I guess. I checked the permissions and they are correct. I appreciate the ideas. I needed to put the...

AS2000- Backup Agent Error for Email (Calendars)

I got your e-mails. The backup is still running. I am waiting for it to finish, but it actually does not show any activity or job log errors. It's hopeful. The only reguirements the sheet shows is 1. This fix requires ARCserve 2000 Advanced Edition Exchange Agent for NT/2000 or Exchange 2000...
