We are running NT 4.0 and want to setup W2k server as a Disaster Recovery for our domain. Can it be setup as a BDC? Any ideas as to whether we should do this or set it up another way to perform as a Disaster Recovery system? Thanks,
Vince
2000 Server can not perform the role of a BDC in an NT4 domain. If you want to add some fault tolerance to your domain info, make the new system an NT4, and make it BDC. Marc Creviere
Well, we want to go on and set this one up with Windows 2000. We bought license upgrades for our current NT 4.0 and it's BDCs. I figure we could set it up as a stand alone 2K Server, then change it to a BDC after we upgrade the NT 4.0. I appreciate the quick answer though. THANKS ALOT!!!! Thanks,
Vince
You can set it up as a member server for now, and then promote it to a domain controller after your other machines are upgraded. Unlike NT 4, you can go from member server to domain controller and back without re-installing completely. Marc Creviere
